Miele Classic C1 Pure Suction Canister Vacuum Cleaner - Grey

VBM: This is a great vacuum cleaner. The suction is great on both low and high pile. Maneuvering it it's very easy as it is light and easy to move around. The cord is a good length and it's easy to roll back in after use.
The item arrived quickly as well, however Amazon really dropped the ball when it came to the payment. They did play fast and loose with my credit card and they charged my UK card instead of the US one. I ended up incurring extra fees from both Amazon and my UK bank on top of a bad currency rate. When I contacted customer support they actually lied to me telling me the US card was declined, however there is no whatsoever record with my credit card for this transaction even been attempted. I always get a text message with declined transactions and did not get anything so did not have the opportunity to change the payment method. I have since cancelled my Prime membership as I cannot trust a company that lies about such important things like credit card charges. It's a shame that great companies and products like Miele have to be associated to such deceitful customer service as the one provided by Amazon

Deepsea21: I was going back and forth trying to decide if I should buy a canister vac with a power head for carpets and concluded the increase in price just couldn't be justified when compared to standard uprights for carpeting. However, uprights for hard floors just don't work in my opinion even if they claim they are multi-purpose. while canisters just aren't as good for carpeting in my opinion and are harder to maneuver around on carpeting. So I use the upright on the carpets and this lowest-cost pure suction Miele for the hard floors. Together they are a perfect combo and I can vacuume the entire downstairs that is about 1,000 sf in about 15 minutes. THe standard head it comes with works just fine, glides easily and I don't see a need to spend more $ on a wider parquet twister or whatever they call it. I will say this is NOT a good vac for carpet (even very short pile carpet) though the head has a carpet setting. It will not easily glide across low pile carpet unless you turn the suction way down and at that point, what is the point?

Baba Gee: The suction power is good and the swivel head is good for maneuvering around and under furniture. The hose is nice and long. I guess this it's meant to be held in one hand while you vacuum with the other and I haven't yet adopted that. (I don't vacuum everyday.) I miss the length of the cord on my old Bissell.

rjteague: Our bagless vacuum that we've had for several is progressing getting more and more gutless. It just doesn't pick up even small lightweight bits. I grew up with bag vacuums and after some research found this Classic C1 Miele. We have a lot of hardwood floors in this new house and one of the reasons I decided to go with this model is because of those floors. The other was the "pure suction" description. I didn't care for the floorhead it came with. There is a vinyl strip that seems to have contact with the wood floors while vacking.

This same head was horrible for our cotton area rug. EVen on the lowest suction and the tile floor setting, it roughed up the cotton and I ended up with a lot of lint. I ordered the Miele SBB 300-3 Twister Parquet Floorhead, spendy, but reviews sounded good, and it was worth it. And I just ordered the (shhh... a non-brand model) Turbo Head cleaner for that cotton rug and the rooms that have standard carpeting. The Parquet sweeps our hardwood and tile floors beautifully and I recommend it. They are cleaner than they've ever been with our old vacuum. The Turbo Head tool arrives tomorrow. KentonKenton: I like to submit reviews after I've used a product for a while -- we live in world where so many things are built to break, and when you're paying this much for a vacuum, you want to know it will stand the test of time. First, this is the stripped-down version, but the sucking power is tremendous -- enough that it easily takes care of our hardwood floors, but also works for our heavy rugs, even a large "shag" rug. Lesser vacuums will use spinning rollers to move carpet fibers around, but I'm pretty sure that equal or superior cleaning can be accomplished just with the massive suction power of this vacuum.

We love that it's also light and quiet. The simple attachments are well thought-out -- you can easily shorten or lengthen the working end, and the brush attachment is GREAT for cleaning window screens. After three years, the cord is still retracting like the day we bought it, and the suction is just as strong.

Note that this is an investment, and to keep it healthy you probably want to go with miele brand bags made especially for this vacuum. They're pricey, and if you're plastic conscious, they have a plastic attachment on each bag. But the way they filter the air...
