The Midland ER310 Emergency Crank Weather AM/FM Radio is the perfect companion for any situation. With features like a powerful SOS emergency flashlight, an ultrasonic dog whistle, and NOAA weather scan + alert, you'll always be prepared. The ER310 is the best weather radio available, offering excellent light output, great value for money, and ease of use. Plus, it's battery efficient, with three sustainable power sources that make it easy to recharge. With a high brightness setting that provides maximum illumination, and an SOS flashlight beacon that flashes Morse code in an emergency, the ER310 is the perfect emergency radio. James Garrison: When I received this weather radio it was physically smaller than I expected. But that's a good thing. Its compact size makes it good for the car glove box or a backpack. I like the USB charging feature so we can recharge our phones during an extended power outage. I have recharged the included internal battery using both the crank and the solar cell - both worked fine. The battery holds its charge for a long time, though I have measured how long it lasts exactly I know it's weeks and I've been using it as a flashlight and listening to NOAA alerts regularly.
The only improvement I would suggest is having separate on/off and settings buttons. Maybe it's just me but I don't care for the multi-function on/off, settings, band selector button.
But overall this is a good product and if you don't have an emergency radio already, this would be a good choice.

Lawrence: The radio has multiple functions that make it valuable in an emergency situation. Various methods of powering it are helpful so that you aren't limited to one-use batteries only. Kids may enjoy cranking the radio as busy work, distracting them from more adult decisions. I do wish that the selector switch to change the power source from disposable batteries to rechargeable batteries was a little larger. If you have a cellphone with a USB-C port, make sure that you have the necessary cable to plug into the USB-A charging port. Adapters are available to provide you with the proper connections. I got two radios. The other is a backup or a spare to share, whatever the circumstance may be.

JimBeaux49: Climate change is making us have to pay attention to the weather more nowadays. Spent two weeks at my daughter's place in Rhode Island earlier in the summer to dog sit their two boxers. Decided to get this and have it delivered there since I'd be there for a while to look at and understand how to use it. Unfortunately (or fortunately, I guess), about five days after it arrived I had to use it due to an emergency announcement on TV to find shelter because of a tornado sighting in our area. Two confused boxers and my wife and I became crammed into a small bathroom that had no windows. What gave us comfort was our newfound ability to use our new emergency radio (no TV to watch in there ...) to keep up to date until it gave us the all clear. Our timing in the purchase was perfect, and it worked perfectly as well. Highly recommend to get this and keeping it somewhere easy to reach for moments like the one we went through or worse.

x6729c: This works but the dog whistle is useless and a siren would be more useful for someone to find you. Although seems well made it is not water resistant as water can get into the battery compartment as not sealed. This is old design as most emergency radios have 2aa or 3aaa battery for backup but this uses 6aa batteries. I put in lithium since they last a long time and do not leak. The good thing though is it uses an easily replaceable 18650 battery which other radios cannot be replaced. LED light ok and brighter than some. Receives weather radio ok and am and fm ok. The battery switch is impossible to switch unless you have a pin to slide the tiny slide switch hidden under the rubber cover of the usb connection. It would be impossible in the dark to find and slide the switch. The antenna is very hard to pull out and could break or bend, no other emergency radio I have has this problem. I didn't check the solar panel charge but reviews says it works ok but it is smaller than other panels of the radios I have. The radio had no. 1 reviews so that's why I bought it but other radios are more compact and have bigger solar panels and use aa or aaa battery for backup and cost less.

John P.: We have only had this unit a couple of months, but it seems good. The radio gets good reception, and the crank does a good job charging. We are going to keep this in our grab bag, as opposed to using it everyday.

Scott Snodgrass: I don’t hate this product. In fact, I’m betting it’s one of the better emergency radios. It’s got all the basic features, hand crank, solar charge, usb charge and AAA bateries (not supplied). AM/FM/WX, flashlight and dog whistle (not sure this is important). The radio tunes and sounds pretty good. The instruction manual is very basic and I wish it had more info like approximate time it takes to charge by solar and how long do you have to crank for a full charge. My google searches lead me to believe that’s not practical. The SOS light signal is a little too fast and I wish there was a red or green light feature.
