CHUCKFM: I have experimented with the "off-brand", lower cost, even free apps as well as some of the more costly "name brand" products with varied results. Some were "you got what you paid for", many of them blocked known, clean websites, (even my internals) and let some nefarious ons through. Some were memory/cpu hogs rendering your computer pretty much useless to do anything but check for malware. (more on this later)

The price was right, the company is reputable, and seems to do its job allowing "good" traffic through, at the worst, first asking you, and, most important, this app doesn't seem to hog a whole lot of cpu horsepower like others do . (I wont mention names but the cpu hog app's name starts with Sym, ends with antec and has a 360 behind it. )

Be advised, however, that once you register your first (of three) licenses, the clock has started on ALL THREE licenses. You better be ready to install #2 & #3 shortly after you have installed #1.

Kieran: This protection software is PERFECT. I'm 18, so I didn't have much money to spend on anti-virus and actually went a year without ANY because I was broke! Well, when I did have anti-virus, I had Kaspersky and I really loved that. But it was just too expensive to buy, thus I looked for something cheaper and this was just perfect. It's $15.00 cheaper than what the McAfee site offers it for and it's definitely a lot cheaper than Kaspersky and dare I say, Norton? (I hate Norton, it's the absolute worst protection ever so I don't even bother looking at it's prices). This gets the job done, at a good price. I will definitely be buying this again next year. I'm very happy to have protection on my 3 computers again and I'm even more ecstatic that I saved so much money! Also it came very fast! Before the expected date, 3 days after I ordered!

Juan Canto: Once installed, it gives you a good protection. I know this for a fact because I had it through AT&T when I enrolled in their U-Verse. This software does not have a disc and it was good to be installed in three computers, but I only could install it in just one. Amazon did sent me a replacing one, but now they are asking me to return the original one otherwise I will be charged to my credit card. They do NOT realized that I CANNOT return the original one because it was installed in one computer as mentioned above and therefore the software is registered under my name. Do you understand what I am trying to explain to them??? But, apparently, their customer service representatives do not read or follow up on the communication Amazon has with its customers. In one of my e-mails, the response I got from Amazon, was that I did not have to return anything and I was NOT going to be charged again for the same item; yet I received a second e-mail from somebody telling me that they have not received the merchandise and that I have a deadline before getting charged again. If this behavor continues on, I will not reccomend or buy anything from Amazon again. Very dissapointed!!!

Winston E. Kole: I've been using McAfee Total Protection Software for my home computers (3) for the past several years, and have found the McAfee product to meet all of my internet protection needs. It is easy to load, user-friendly, and runs quietly and efficiently in the background without slowing my computers down significantly. I'm a satisfied customer. However, in years past, I've always purchased the CD version, in case I had to reload for some reason throughout the covered year. This year, I expected to receive another CD, as the picture on the web looked like all of the McAfee boxes of the past. Upon arrival, I found that this product utilized a plastic card - not unlike a credit card - to enable me to load the new product. I was quite skeptical at first, and nearly sent it back. However, sometimes "change is good", so I tried it - it worked flawlessly, and I continue to be a satisfied customer. Thank you, McAfee for your fine product, and thank you, Amazon for providing this product at a reasonable price. Nicely done!

Alfred Burzynski: First, I like the fact that it has a 3 license allowance. Lets face it, many of us have a desktop and a laptop so to be forced to buy 2 licenses is a bit greedy. Its nice that McAfee was considerate in this respect. Installation went very smoothly.

The best part about the software is that it leaves you alone and does its job. I had Zone Alarm a while back and it would constantly state that so-and-so software wants to do something, it that OK? Well I don't know if it's OK or not, that's why I purchased security software to figure that out. It seems that McAfee stays on top of current malware and takes care of things as it should.

McAfee also has a security green rating on websites that it considers safe. This too ads a vote of confidence to the site and that McAfee is doing its job. "Total" is a good word for the name of this product.

Without a doubt this is my favorite security software.
