Rogelio: El software es de mala calidad, poco configurable, elimina archivos. No es recomendable para nada, tengo ahí el software sin utilizar, preferí comprar más licencias de otra marca.

Baloo: Bought this package for 14 bucks as open box. It contains a card with the reg. no., then you have to download the software to the respective equipment to be protected.

I was running the free Avira software before, which considerably slowed down my PC and was overly sensitive in identifying clean software as malware.

Download, installation and managing the installations was a breeze with McAfee. I currently run it on Win10, Win7Pro, Anrdroid 4.4 smartphone and Android 4.2 tablet without any issues. The tablet app provides other nice features, like a trace-and-find tool and energy management.

I have not vetted it with intentional exposure to viruses/malware, but a check run with other software did not identify any malware having leaked through the McAfee.

So far no complaints at all. The option for automatic renewal during installation (mentioned in other reviews) is a quite common feature, I was not bothered or inconvenienced by that.

Dan B: Simple to use. I have a McAfee account, but do not renew through them. With this I just go to my account and add the number to the retail key code section and download the software. I normally uninstall the old software before running the new installation file. It just seems smoother. As far as McAfee goes it is decent enough. However I would never rely on Justine method of protection. That said McAfee is decent enough for the price on Amazon. I would not pay the price from their site. As far as complaints about requiring a credit card on the site you just turn off auto renewal.

Eric K. Sherson: I replaced an anti-virus program with this. It allows up to five devices to be protected for one price. The previous software program tried to pull a fast one and said I needed emergency removal of a Trojan virus. I knew enough about computers that I recognized I was being jerked around for a quick sale. I like the Mcafee in particular because it has a good spam and junk mail filter and it will check the various posts on social media, and clearly mark the posts that are safe.

Dirk Manley: I would have rated this a 4 or 5 had I not had to do some gymnastics to get it to install. I ended up having to use their online help and then use their clean up tool to get rid of the old McAfee software before I finally got the software to load properly. It was time consuming and annoying. I really don't understand why this software had trouble installing over an earlier version. I wonder if it's to "inspire" users to pay for the higher priced automatic renewal service? McAfee can do better. I'll be looking at other products when renewal time comes.

Stoney Autry: software would not install on my dell windows 10. After two tries I contacted customer support and they took control of my computer and tried to install it. They removed my system mechanic from iolo saying not compatible. Then they said I had a corrupt host file. After about 30 minites I lost internet I guess. Next day I downloaded a file called preinstall file from McAFEE and on fourth try I succeeded in getting it installed. I tried to go back and look at the host files and McAFEE had changed something but I was afraid to mess with it because I am not that computer savey. It was supposed to be a five device software and don't know if I still have that after using four different serial numbers to install it on this computer.
