Maryssa Briggs: You know those book series that change your life for the better? This series is just that. The historical aspect of it combined with drama, life, and redemption is simply perfect. I've reread this series and I keep wanting to read it again and again. Hadassah is a great example of how Christians should behave and how we should share the love of God/Jesus with our actions despite how we are treated or what we go through. I highly recommend this series!

Anne: Highly recommend this book after the first as the journey of the Valarian family continues. Rivers weaves scripture into events and dialogue that makes you long to know Jesus more and inspires the reader to deeper faith, weather the nearly unswerving faith of some characters or the stumbling and seeking faith of others. After reading so much fiction that did nothing but entertain, this left me renewed and inspired. If you are not a believer yet or struggle making sense of what Christians truly believe, I challenge you to read book 1 and 2 in this series. You will be drawn to the characters and thought provoked. If you are a believer, I bet you will see some of yourself in all these very human characters. What amazes me is how the setting is 50 AD but it might as well be today. The same worldly challenges opportunities remain yet the hope remains constant. I listened to the audio in the car and read at night. I recommend the mix to hear some of the names and ancient words pronounced.

Kindle Customer: A roller-coaster of emotions. It was intense, moving, heart-wrenching and funny. I couldn't put the book down and when I did I couldn't wait to pick it up again. Highly recommend.

Forenhel: Francine Rivers has done amazing job again with this book. From beginning to end, it was an amazing journey of hardship and love above all else. I can't recommend this series enough because it teaches SO MUCH on God's love and extent of His forgiveness and timing. To never stop trusting and never cease seeking. I cried so much reading this, what an emotional and spiritual journey.
