Bhadra: If you ever worked with standard compasses, you know how much a pain they are.
You can get stainless steel ones if durability is an issue with plastic. But if they're standard, they're not tight with the pencil at all!
But you can get this compass which is durable and usable combined!
Recommend to get this for school, it's portable as well.

M. T. D. C. M.M. T. D. C. M.: This is a good quality compass. it comes with a small lead pencil that has a pressure screw to adjust it. The pencil can be easily adjusted up and down and, other pencils can be inserted instead. I've tried others I have, and they fit without problem as long as they're a similar short hight; otherwise, I'ts difficult to use. The storage case if very good.

However, the compass is very small, even for my very small hands, and I find it difficult to use naturally; like I struggle to use it. I guess it will be OK for children's hands, but not for mine for sure.

I regret not having paid for something more expensive and getting something that I can easily use and move around.

The Princess and the Pea 🌹: Wish I could find the compass used in grade school, 50 years ago. It was made of steel and was the only one ever needed.

This will do the trick if accuracy is not required. The compass is flimsy and the plastic screw to hold the pencil in place, will likely be the first thing to go. For a couple pennies more, the screw could have been made of metal, to give a better grip on the pencil.

The case is the better part of the product...

Additionally, if you do not like using the metric system, get a different compass.

SirCapalot: I’m glad I was able to get this because I needed it for one of my classes. It was very worth it because the cheaper alternatives are not even near the quality of this one. I’m also glad that I can use my own pencil in this instead of just being limited to one pencil. Great purchase!

RAH: This is a terrific compass at a good price. I use it to create mandalas in my art and I find it perfect for that purpose.
