Janis: Still in denial about having the diagnosis. Reached out for this book to help me understand diabetes two. I am hoping it's simple to read. It has a lot of information.

Phil b: Decent beginners read but medications are those available 2018 when printed. Many new meds since then .

Tom T: Recently diagnosed and frankly knew almost nothing about type 2 diabetes. I ordered this book based on a recommendation of one of my wife's friends.
Like all "dummies" books, the writing style is simple and direct. A very broad range of topics are covered and the writer maintains a positive outlook throughout.
After my first read of the book, (I will no doubt read it again), I felt that it was basically a Weight-Watcher's approach (i.e. No food is denied, but portion size must be monitored).
While a good primer, I felt that it falls short on specific recommendations such a a sample menu for, say, a week. That would have been very useful.

Birdnerd: This book just regurgitates advice from the American Diabetic Association, so isn’t useful for UK readers. Also, for those newly diagnosed, I’d recommend Professor Roy Taylor’s short books, which are practical, hopeful and tell you how to put Type 2 DM into remission - permanently. This book is just about the médications really. Wouldn’t recommend.

BP: A good book for info. My only complaint is a good portion of the book is about how to navigate your health insurance plans with this disease. As a canadian this is not something that concerned me . Still a good book.

Kathy K.: I was recently diagnosed as prediabetic. This book uses simple, easy to understand language (no medical terms) and really made sense to me. Good practical advice and am very happy with it.
