Michael Vinson: The book arrived promptly within 24 hours and I was surprised by how heavy it was. This is not a complaint: this is a beautiful hard-cover book designed to last a lifetime, and with LOTS of full-page, full-color photos of the dishes and ingredients.
The author clearly intended to make this the go-to book for Indian cooking that replaces all others, and I believe she succeeded magnificently.
Besides mere recipes, the author explains the reasoning behind the seasoning, if you will excuse my rhyme. The intention is really to make this a MASTER CLASS on cooking Indian food, including the regional differences, discussion of ingredients, and the logic behind spice pairings.
I daresay, if one dedicates sufficient time and care in the reading of this beautiful and practical book, and gets busy cooking the recipes in the kitchen...one will be able to cook authentic Indian food as good as/better than any Indian restaurant.

Chimeracat: Very descriptive. Provides information about the recipe and then the recipe itself and all sorts of tips and tricks. Useful section of regularly used mixes. Every recipe I have tried has been well received. I love this book

Rebecca: I've been cooking more Indian food for gout because a lot of the spices have a lot of anti-inflammatory properties. There are some spices you might not have heard of. This book addresses that and gives several substitutes. It tells you a lot about the dish if you are looking for something in particular. Very much enjoyed and love all the tips.

Grotteaux: I just got this book and hosted a dinner party. I made several dishes from it and they were all unbelievably delicious. The pictures are beautiful, the directions are clear and easy to follow, and the background information and tips are all very informative. All the dishes I made rivaled anything I have ever eaten from Indian restaurants....the recipes are that good.

Antonia Andrews: I just tried my first recipe today and it was absolutely amazing.
The recipe was Murgh Makhani (Buttery Chicken Curry)
Layers of flavor, color, texture, and aroma 100%. It was so easy to follow and so easy to make it.
We loved the recipe and almost ate our plates.
We went back for more and the sauce of my God the sauce !!!

pragya108: A great set of recipes that give a wide range of regional dishes too. Not just the standard fare. Some are very traditional and authentic, some with modern tweaks to go a bit faster, but still in the right Indian spirit. The explanations on origins and culture surrounding the dishes and food habits are interesting and informative. Would definitely recommend!
