beth wilding: Loved it. The base sauce is amazing. I missed the cooking the onions for an hour but it still tasted amazing. The korma was korma. (I live in Australia where the curry is really different from English). I’m so glad I bought it. Have ordered book 2 also

ddd: (I'm probably judging this a little harshly as I see the UK recommended retail price is £13.99, which is reasonable. I paid 30 USD and I don't think the value is there)
It's a very well presented book (esp. for what appears to be self-published) and does contain some helpful background info on equipment, spices, ingredients and methods but the big downer for this book is the time it takes to produce the average meal.
The recipes pretty much all use a curry base and often several foundational mixes or cooking steps. I'm not averse to it, and I get why restaurants do it for efficiency reasons, but I think more 'quick curry' recipes and/or non-base alternatives would be good to see.
Many recipes have 20 or so ingredients and 15+ steps, which include sub-steps. For example, Chicken Dhansak:
16 ingredients (but some need cooking/preparing themselves); 10 steps
A. uses base gravy -> which needs mix powder (this is not a garam masala, per se, but it kind of is) -> both mix powder and curry base call for garam masala (smaller amount of a different spice mixture to the mix powder)
Ok - this is not horrendous, as they can all be made in...

Dominic Barrass: This cook book s great for the majority of curries and have great deep flavors, a couple of complaints.
1) This recipe book seems to be based on British curry cuisine and British curries types are very set in their spice levels, I cooked a curry I know is normally medium heat but the curry was mild with no heat level. It would be good to give a guide to the actual spice level expected from that curry.
2) The book does not give guidance on meat to sauce ratio, again an initial guide would help so people can adapt once they've tried it, our first curry had way too much meat in it that made the curry too dry

Martin: Finally arrived in Utah, I admit I do have this for my kindle but I prefer an actual book, so after I tried a few recipes I ordered it.
It’s great to be able to make Indian food like I remember from back home. If I could rate it ten I would.

Penny C.: This curry cookbook is, for me, “The One”! I have been cooking Indian food at home for about 15 years now. I have many curry cookbooks for both traditional and British Indian Restaurant styles; I’ve taken Indian cooking classes at restaurants; I’ve bought the Craftsy classes on Indian cooking. My friends and family have always told me that my curries are “good” but I was never “great”….until now! Having been made aware of Misty Ricardo through his excellent YouTube video channel as well as Facebook, I thought that if he put the care and detail into his cookbook that you find on his videos then this book was a must purchase for me. After making his base gravy and trying 3 of the curry recipes so far (Madras, Tikka Masala and Ceylon), I have been formally declared “Great” and informed by family and friends that they have never had better curry before-either at my home or a restaurant. Although people’s tastes in curry differ, if you are looking to upgrade your restaurant style curry skills – this book will take you there.
The cookbook has excellent pictures, clear and concise directions, and includes links to Misty Ricardo’s YouTube channel where...
