Tennessee LeeTennessee Lee: Wondering what to expect from this radio ? Reviews up and down like a rollercoaster ? Here it is straight. First note this is a $ 30 radio. If you are expecting a quality higher than this value move on. In the hands this radio is very light and cheap feeling but it is a $30 radio so I knew this. The sound quality is good enough . Mostly treble and no bass and plenty loud with a vintage AM can sound. If you expect this thing to sound like a bose radio for $ 30 move on. Light works good enough. This can run off of a 110 outlet or use 3 AAA batteries. Note with any weather radio it will have to be constantly scanning for weather alerts so if you expect this to last forever on batteries. MOVE ON! It will be sufficient to get you through a day of bad weather on batteries which is what it is intended for. If you expect more use the 110. The tornado only alert feature is sweet and should be the standard for all brands. The antenna extends to about 8 inches. FM reception was good for rural Tennessee Hill country. Weather band is staticky but I am still able to hear what I need to hear. Like the other weather radios I have certain areas of the house pick up better...

jimrockford: Nowhere near as good as the last one I had. No weather reception inside, Transmitter is 28 miles away. AM/FM works fine.

Jacks: My third purchase. Ive had mine for three years. I wanted both of my children and their families to have one. Its the only device i know of that allows a “tornado only” setting and will wake you in the middle of the night. You cannot sleep thru it.

Another Mike: When disaster is looming, or not, I'll know about it. To this point this is the best weather radio I have owned. I bought it specifically for tornado season which is severely annoying when we are in that season. All the other weather radios go off with all events including those which are hundreds of miles away. Hopefully, and I believe its the case, this one will be more geographically specific ... though I'm not sure how it will accomplish that. It is compact and has a bunch of nice features.

Harold R. Becker: We're preparing for Hurricane Ian. I have this radio plugged all the time to keep it "charged up". I unplugged it and it's dead. I think the batteries are only for use when it's not plugged in because they don't charge when plugged in in for an extended period of time.
Bottom line is it's a toy! The sound quality is the worst and the non-charging issue is bad. When it was new, it had a battery life of about a half hour when unplugged. Hardly what I would call an emergency radio.
Poorly conceived and will go into the "recycle electronics" bin. Too late to send it back.
