JGD: It fixed the leaking issue i had. These are not as easy to install as the old school tanks since you have to actually remove the tank, but it was pretty straightforward to do.

A Customer: This kit doesn't include the tank bolts and it appears the only way to get the bolts is to buy kit GP51487 which also includes the gasket. Being as the flush valve kit includes the gasket but not the bolts you'll end up with 2 gaskets.

JBatch: Installed two of these Kohler flush valve kits to replace the old failing ‘flapper-style’ flush valves in two of my father’s aging Kohler toilets.

Had to remove the tank from the lower toilet bowl to perform the old flush valve removal and new flush valve replacement. Not too difficult of a task but finicky process. Critical to not over-tighten the tank gasket seal nut. Installation instructions are specific: hand tighten nut plus 1/4 turn. That process worked perfect to seal tank to lower bowl with no leaks.

One complaint that drug down review to 4 stars is the installation instructions are not at all clear as to which of the four colored fill tube restrictors or to use. Instructions say to select and install one of the four colored fill tube flow restrictors ‘to achieve best toilet performance’. What the heck is best toilet performance? By process of elimination I settled on the black color fill tube flow restrictors. The black fill tube flow restrictors seemed to fill the bowl best. More instructions specifics on the fill tube flow restrictors would be helpful.

david malloy: The media could not be loaded.  I disliked the nipple type replacement cap. Fortunately though I was able to twist off the cannisters original cap. The ‘new’ cap ran noisier. The old male to female compromise was a necessary fix due to the new style being noisy and brittle!

Cathy: My toilet needed a new gasket at the bottom of the cylinder. The kit fixed the leakage, but it is not easy to install the kit. Like other comments, having a plumber wrench could save a lot of time. It took us a long time to remove the huge plastic nut on the bottom of the flush valve. We also have difficulty pushing the three bolts back to the rubber seals. When we tightened up the nuts and the bolts, the rubber seal was turning at the same time.

The kit has been installed for a month, and we have not spotted any leaks or random refills.
