M&FM&F: I am very happy with the sound of these speakers, they produce huge soundstage, very holographic with good recordings. To get the best out of them you need a min 70wpc of high quality amp. For reference my set up is Rega elex-R, Music Halll 7.3 turntable, 2m bronze cartridge, skw audio cables. Dac is NOS tda 1543 4 chips in parallel. The stands you want are 24 inches, that way you get the best bass response, stands need to be either sand filled or foam filled, speakers need room to breath, at least 3 feet from rear wall & side walls. Also, room acoustic treatment is highly recommended. Some reviews say they don’t sound loud, i did not notice that, this could be due to low watt amp or improper speaker placement, you don’t need to turn up volume too high as soundstage they produce is huge, on my amp i rarely go past 11 o’clock . In regards to bass, to my taste i like that they are not bass heavy, that way i hear music more clearly, bass is there but not heavy nor overpowering. Hope this review helps to those who are considering them. The reason for 4 stars & not five is due to them being 85db , not very efficient , thus require careful amp pairing.

M. Wickham: Am long time audiophile, and very impressed by the KEFs. First day I had them hooked up, I said "very pure"
Been playing them a month or so, and that impression holds up. Never had a speaker that images better, and they really let you into the recording. You can hear an amazing amount of subtle detail, yet they are not in your face. Are they IDEAL?? I would say am glad to have another pair of great speakers that are more relaxed sounding to switch off from the KEFs. The KEFs kind of demand your attention. They make you want to sit right in the sweet spot and concentrate on the music and sound. As I type this, am listening to the Wharfedale Evo 4.1s. Similar size, and half the price. They too are very very good. Not quite as good with image and inner detail. but warmer and richer sounding. Ideal for relaxing and not paying strict attention to the sound...like when on computer. Yet they also can be rewarding if you sit in the sweet spot with the lights off. 2 diff. listening experiences, and what I select speaker wise, depends of my mood and the recording. Nice to have them both.

R.Hill Clark.: I see a lot of reviews here saying they sound bad. It's simply not true, because then I see what they are running, and its a very low tier amp. Your "200" watt Emotiva BasX or similar class amp simply does not have the torque that these speakers need. I know, I own several Emotiva amps. I'm an audiophile, and have lots of gear, it's the hobby. I'm running these off comparably priced equipment, all of my gear is in the price wheelhouse of the Ls50. My amps are Orchard Audio class D GaN monoblocks with GaN power supplies. I run a Gustard X26 Pro dac, dual mono dacs, dual mono power supplies, excellent clocks. This speaker goes down to 3 ohms. Your cheap amp is likely begging for mercy at this impedance regardless of "200 watts". You need high quality. Give these high quality components and this speaker is AMAZING. I have 7 sets of speakers. All different types, Magnepans, CSS Audio, bunch of stuff. These speakers are worth every penny! But bear in mind their performance sits right where the price range is. These are not $10000 speakers for 1600. You get what you pay for. That said, in the 2K range, they are probablyunbeatable, for overall performance. Another caveat though is I have...

Bob G: These speakers get really great reviews here and by audio magazine journalists, but I’m not sure why. As another reviewer here stated, these are good, but not great speakers. They definitely don’t live up to the hype. Very questionable if they are worth the now $1600 price (up from $1500 when I purchased).

Here’s the good and not so good-

Good:

1.) The KEF LS-50 speakers are really solid and well built. The design may not be for everyone, but they do look kinda cool.

2.) The speakers have a very full, wide, smooth natural soundstage. Plump and juicy might be a good way to describe it. They put out a sound that belies their small size, provided they are set up per the manufacturer’s instructions. (8-12 ft apart and 18” from wall), and fed enough power. 60 WPC is absolute bare minimum and then only in a small room. I’d recommend 150-200, and find an amp that has a musical sound. Amps that have a sterile, dry, and precise sound will not pair well with these speakers. Spend some $$ on a good amp and your ears will be rewarded. I have a Schiit Rag2, and while it sounds good with the speakers, 60WPC is not enough power.

3.) Really good bass...

BeansmeansbeansBeansmeansbeans: I moved to these speakers from a Sonos Arc. The reason for this was my PC was having constant driver issues with Dolby Atmos so last weekend I decided I had enough. I decided to go back to a more simpler stereo set up but did not want to step down on audio quality. Initially the KEF KS50 Wireless II caught by eye and there were a few times I almost pulled the trigger on the purchase. However, the KS50 Meta had caught my eye but I’ve never had passive speakers before and didn’t know anything about using amps. My intended use is music, movies and gaming.

Several YouTube videos later I decided to take the punt and bought a pair of Metas and my amp of choice was the Sonos Amp (2019 version). This was because the Sonos had more than enough power to drive these speakers and had an arc connector which is all I needed. The plan was to set these up with Amazon basics banana plugs and place the speakers on top of the audioengine ADS2 desks stands (perfectly stable fit by the way). My TV is the LG CX and I have the REL T5i sub connected.

Set up was surprisingly easy apart from removing the banana cable plugs from the speakers. I ended up breaking and splitting several...
