André Pariseau: Remplacement de l'original , très satisfait surtout par la qualité versus le prix.

Damon: This works well for small areas, I am using it as a subwoofer under my desk for gaming. Given the size and price you can't go wrong, but don't expect it to outperform a $300 or $400 subwoofer for a nice surround setup. I have always been happy with Yamaha and also use a Aventage receiver in my main setup, so I know the quality that goes with the Yamaha name.
Set your expectations occordingly and you won't be disappointed.

Risk777: I have it in a HUGE 2400 sq ft garage with tall ceilings. I think it is good in there, so probably would be amazing in a normal sized room. For an 8" sub and a great cost, I think it is a good buy.

Pat: Don't expect a ton from this sub , it's an 8 inch at 100w , if you adjust the sub volume to your receiver volume you can get some good sound out of it , I immediately max this sub out on the first song but adjusted after . Good deal

Terry D.: I like the sound quality. The compact size is valued for small spaces. It complements my system very nicely. So I purchased a second sub.

Paul Laevens: Bought this on October 30th 2022 and it arrived in the morning on November 2nd 2022. So quick delivery. Purchased while it was marked down 33%. My new found bass is glorious when added to my hobbled together stereo system. Only surprise was Yamaha didn't include an RCA cable to actually hook it up to a receiver. Thankfully I had some extra RCA cables socked away.
I have the volume set around 6-7 and it puts out a noticeable punch. Any louder and it overwhelms the main speakers. I mainly listen to BPM and Diplo's Revolution on Sirius/XM streaming through my phone into a Wiim Mini plugged into my receiver. The added bass is next level. I also listen to Hard/Dark Techno from DI.FM and that is something to behold!
Thanks Amazon and Yamaha. A very happy customer.

M. C. Auld: I have purchased two of these subwoofers. First for my home theater system, and I was sufficiently impressed that I bought a second for the stereo system in my home office.
The second one sounded surprisingly bad: bloated and boomy. After some investigation I figured out that this occurred because the "subwoofer out" on my integrated amplifier does not have a low-pass filter. That is, it just sends the entire frequency range to the subwoofer rather than just the low frequency information. This is apparently the norm for integrated amps.
These Yamaha subwoofers are extremely unusual, and deeply flawed, in that they do not have the capacity to adjust the frequencies to which they'll respond. Due to this problem, you CANNOT use them with any electronics which cannot perform bass management, that is, send the subwoofer only the low frequency information your other speakers can't handle.
For example, the bookshelf speakers in my office are good down to about 70hz, and drop off rapidly below that. With practically any other sub, I could adjust the crossover on the sub so it doesn't respond above 70hz and then fiddle with the volume to smoothly integrate the speakers...

Kameron DavisKameron Davis: Ok, so just to let you guys know, this may be a very long and my review of the Yamaha NS-SW050 Subwoofer. I'm not an audiophile guy, but I can definitely tell you I love this subwoofer.
Anyways I'll tell you guys the details about it.
The Performance: This little sub really packs a punch for its size. From my experience by playing music and watching movies, I had to turn down the subwoofer level from my reciever (Yamaha RX-461) rarely a few times. Even at night on low volume. It doesn't have the crossover frequency knob on the back where the volume knob is, but I don't mind it at all. I put the volume knob in the middle where it is recommended. It performs pretty well in my bedroom, it's pretty small. Could perform better in a medium room. The frequency response is amazingly nice. I could hear low notes down to 30Hz down the hallway from where my room is. It won't shake the house of course (LOL), but it just performs very well than I thought it would.
Now as you scroll through the pictures I've taken, you'll probably see a different subwoofer. Yes, that's right. That's the Yamaha YST-SW012 Subwoofer. So I have two Yamaha subwoofers. Sadly Yamaha has stopped...

Charles: Sounds nice, but surprisingly there's no auto shut down when receiver turns off. Only single sub jack, power button, and level controller
