Amazon Customer: Any teacher who has delt with an autistic student would love this book. I was hooked after the first sentence and was truly sad when the story ended.

Debbie Anderson: I have read this book already, borrowed from a friend. Wanted to get one though to give to my daughter for her birthday. Came really quickly. Hope she enjoys it as much as I did.

Felix the Cat: A story that is quite cute but hard to believe a child who probably has ASD is allowed to call the shots in an incredibly dysfunctional household. Probably not that credible to a UK audience.

Roberta: All members of our book club enjoyed this book. A little quirky but a good read.

Mary Kenney: Found it an interesting read. Challenging to find out who Frank was,,, characters were well put together in this novel.

Mig Bardsley: A charming book with interesting and strong characters. However, it was Frank who I found the least convincing - obviously, perhaps a little too obviously, autistic, he seemed to me to be something of a device around which to centre the other characters. And then I felt that Alice dealt with him a little too easily and I was baffled that no one seemed to have identified his condition, not even his psychiatrist since it's set in 2010. It's nice that everyone talks about how he's special and unique but unbelievable that absolutely no one says, well he's on the autistic spectrum right?
Still, it was an enjoyable read and I liked the characters and the way it flowed briskly and colourfully to the end.

L. WilliamsL. Williams: Be prepared to fall head over heels in love with Frank Banning, the quirky son of M.M. Banning, the reclusive author whose first (and only) published book at the age of nineteen shot her to immediate fame and made her book a staple in school classrooms across the world. When the fame and ardent fans became too much for M.M. Banning (known as Mimi), she secluded herself in her glass house in Los Angeles and cut off contact with most of the world. However, financial troubles have caused her to promise a new book in exchange for a hefty advance, and her publisher is all too willing to comply...with one condition. That condition is named Alice, and as an employee of the publishing company, she is sent to stay with Mimi and help make life as easy as possible for her...and keep an eye on her progress...as she completes the book. What Alice isn't prepared for is the task of caring for...and loving...Mimi's son, Frank.

Okay. Now that a bit of a summary is out of the way, where do I begin? I will admit that this book initially left me speechless. I sat on my couch and sobbed giant tears for quite some time before I felt like I could process all the emotions it evoked. There were...

Kim ErskineKim Erskine: Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for free through GoodReads in exchange for my honest review.

Despite the old (often true) saying, “Never judge a book by its cover”, I am still a firm believer that there are some books you look at once and the moment you see the cover, you immediately fall in love. That’s exactly how I felt with Julia Claiborne Johnson’s Be Frank With Me. Everything about it was so beautiful. I love the Robin’s Egg Blue color used on the background, the perfect choice in typography, and most of all, the mysterious looking top hat and eye glass on the cover. It was simple, but complex enough to capture my interest.

I also knew I was going to love this book because after reading the back cover and the description on GoodReads, I saw that this was a book about a writer in the process of writing a novel. Being a writer in the process of writing a novel myself I can relate to this story all too well.

However, what I didn’t realize at first was that this book is less about a writer writing a novel and more about Frank, a 10 year old child with autism.

I read a lot of books and I meet a lot of characters in those books,...
