ARTURO CHIN: Another gift for my daughter. She saw the movie and completely fell in love with it, she wanted to read the books so I gifted her the trilogy. Already finished it and she can't be more obsessed with it.

Jimmy Lee B.: So, my BFF of Asian descent told me I had to read this. She listened to the tapes while driving (which apparently are all in different voices) and found them hysterical, so she felt it was right up my alley. And I thought the movie was fun, filled with great costumes, a fabulous wedding, and a touching ending. So fine, I thought I'd make the leap and buy the entire set.
It's rare, these days, that you find a book that you look forward to reading every night; even more rare, a book that you think "gee, can't wait for the next one" - but "Crazy Rich Asians" and the two sequels included in this set by Kevin Kwan were just such books for me.
It was a delight to follow the adventures of Nick and Rachel, Peik Lin, Edison, Astrid, and so many others - as they navigate the world of old money, old generations and old perceptions ... and everything new. Love, jealousy, avarice, boredom, and desire for power all play a part in the complex family dynamics - as they do somehow in every truly good novel, regardless of setting. And the food! Reading about all the culinary delights in times of Covid, as we're restricted in our dining options, is just painful. So many tempting...

CatheCathe: Although Crazy Rich Asians has been around fir some time now, I’ve never read the book nor seen the movie. In fact, I didn’t realize that there was a series of three books.
However, one of my friends sent me a photo of a page from the last book. My husband’s grandfather, a well-known French photographer was mentioned. She said the books were hysterically funny.
I bit the bullet and purchased.
And I feel bad that my family had to deal with me putting everything aside in between Christmas preparations to lie down on the sofa and read. And read. And read!
Without giving spoilers, Kevin Kwan has managed to intertwine generations of ....well.... Crazy Rich Asians and their selfishness, entitlement and obsession with brand names to a level of high entertainment!
The central story follows a couple, Nick Young and Rachel Chu..and how others attempt to sabotage their relationship. That’s all I’m gonna tell you!
You really need to pay attention in the first few chapters of the first book because the families are incredibly huge and a good number of characters are introduced. Once you get past that.. it’s smooth sailing.

Jason: After watching the official movie, I knew I was hooked and wanted to know what happens after the movie. Fortunately, I found out that the movie was based on these books. Reading these books showed a different story in which characters have more development. If you loved the movie, you will love these books!

R. L. Sun: I wish I had read the books before seeing the movie Crazy Rich Asians. It was distracting comparing the movie to the first book. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed all three books. Being a second generation Chinese American, there were passages in books 2 and 3 that made me laugh out loud because they were so spot on while relating some of the absurdly hilarious behaviors that many Asians will recognize. I guess it doesn't matter if you are "crazy rich" or just good old middle class, some things don't change.
My one complaint has nothing to do with the stories, but with the physical books. The text is tiny. If you are over 45 you may want the Kindle version. After years of using a Kindle I find that I really prefer a good old fashioned book...but they really need to be more user friendly.

Francis Siconnelly: I love the books, they are fun to read. I was not expecting to receive three books from three different publisher. The three books are different size and height and they do not come with the casing for the three books.

David L.: What a lovely story, that inspired an excellent movie. You can not help but care much for the initial young couple as they suffer through their lives at the hands of the lad's 'too rich' and eccentric family. World travel and immaculate fashion abounds through Europe and South Asia, in jungles and with WW II heroes, it is all here, written so expressively, and lovingly by KKwan. A wonderful trilogy that passed faaar too quickly. And I hear more movies are coming! Sweeeeet!!! Buy it and ENJOY! dlw
