JFJ Easy Pro Video Game, CD, DVD, and Blu-Ray Repair Machine - 110V

Mickelberry: I am unable to get any FINE sanding sheets. 3M says the 401Q - 1200 grit FINE sanding sheets are for industrial use only, NOT available for sale to the general public (but 2ea 401Q discs came with my machine). The so called SOFT sheets are available at Amazon but are 400 Grit. I am a very capable person. I'm a College Trained A+ Computer Repair Tech, and yet I can not seem to make the JFJ-Pro Polishing machine work.
I am only using the 10 second button and then letting the disc cool. The CENTER of the DVD Disc next to the center mount hole contains all the Copyright and Decoding information (instructions) for the DVD/Blu-Ray Player, to decode & play the discs. I am only working with DVDs. Blu-Rays have a film coating and are to fragile to mess with so I'm sticking with DVDs (for now). Im cleaning BRAND NEW DVDs. They come damaged from poorly designed discs storage boxes, ALL OF THEM!. The discs are overlapped (to up their bottom line) in the storage box & the discs rub on each other during shipping (from vibration) & scratch the discs. The big problem I'm having is the polished discs are MELTING the Discs Decoding Strip next to the center hole. Sand paper does not...

Super D: There is a bit of learning curve and some user input required to repair your abused CDs, but I have not seen any other product that does a better job. I buy a lot of CDs at garage sales and they are often in the 2 for a dollar pile because the original owners abused and neglected them until they started to skip. The JFJ will fix almost and level of scratches and most will play like new. That is the good news. On the down side, a badly abused disk take more than a few minutes to fix, the process is a bit messy ( albeit all contained inside the machine) and the consumables are not cheap. All in all, if you have a large collection of CDs, DVDs, and /or BlueRay disks that play a bit sketchy, I don't know of any process that will do a better job repairing them.

A.G: Love the Machine, works well with a little practice just get
the time right for sanding and buffing disc and they will come out
99% ok. You will still see very faint swirls on discs no matter
how long you sand or just buff disc, but its better than scratchers.

I only gave Four stars due to the fact that the item costs at the
time I bought it £166.00, but when you look at the contents, the
two bottles will only do about 20 Discs. Due to when you first start
the process you have to load the pads, with a fair bit of the creams
to ensure that they dont scratch the discs.
So this inturn does not leave much of the two small bottles buffing
and polish creams. Also the sanding discs are currently only able to
be obtaind in the refill kit at £49.99 not seperately in a Pack of 24,
12 Smooth & 12 Course at a more reasonable price. Please take this
on board and make it possable to buy these sanding discs in packs.
I will update my findings once I have used the machine more.

F. Girard: Très bonne machine pour le prix. Cependant, il faut faire des tests pour trouver ce qui convient le mieux aux types d'égratignures sur le disque. Pour les premières réparations, il faut mettre plus de solution sur les "pads" pour de meilleurs résultats plus rapidement. Après plusieurs CD, DVD et jeux qui avaient plusieurs difficultés de lecture, le taux de réussite est de 100% de mon côté. Il faut parfois "sabler" deux fois le disque pour qu'il fonctionne.

Pour les plaintes sur cette machine, effectivement la machine laisse de légers "reflets" de polissage sur les disques. De toute façon, même avec une machine industrielle comme dans les boutiques de location de DVD et même avec un polissage fait à la main avec de l'équipement de bijoutier, IL VA TOUJOURS AVOIR DES MARQUES DE POLISAGES SUR LE DISQUE. Je dois cependant avouer que la machine JFJ en laisse un peu plus, et ce même avec la "solution 2" de polissage... mais ce n'est qu’esthétique et cela n'affecte pas la lecture.

Pour ceux qui disent que la machine dessine un "cercle" sur le disque: selon mes tests, cela provient souvent du papier sablé qui est "bombé" ou mal installé sur le "pad"....

Wilbur: At the time of this review, I have been using my JFJ Easy Pro for about 6 months, so I'm going to write a review from the point of view of a novice users who bought this product with no prior experience of using a disc repair system. However, a used record store which I frequent owns a more expensive JFJ machine and allowed me to pick their brains for some valuable operating tips.

I should also mention that I have at this time successfully repaired several hundred discs. I have not used ANY of the sandpaper pads, the #1 Blue polishing solution, or anything else supplied with this machine other than the #2 White solution and the foam buffing pads. That's because this combo will repair 99% of discs that are worth repairing. I frequent garage sales, thrift stores, and flea markets, looking primarily for music CDs to expand my collection. I dont't usually waste my time or money on discs that are so bad they would need to be sanded, though I can imagine if you were in IT for example and had a really destroyed data disc you needed to recover, it might warrant use of some other repair strategy, for me the White Solution + foam pads are all I ever need.

Mr. Nigel Ward: The JFJ Easy Pro Universal is not worth £140.00. Remove the VAT and the basic price is about £116.00. It is worth about a third of that sum. £40.00 + VAT [about £50.00 would be acceptable but still not reasonable].

It is manufactured in the USA with a UK distributor. I have to assume there is a considerable mark-up both on the machine, and its consumables.

The unit is simply a box with a motor in its base. The motor spins a disc, in an upper compartment. The disc has either abrasive or buffering pads attached to it. Another disc, attached on the inside of the device's lid mounts the disc for repair. The 2 discs are brought into contact when the lid is closed. There are timed cycle options for periods of 10 seconds or 20 seconds or 1 minute or 2 minute durations.

When used in the recommended way the unit produces a LOT of heat. Despite this, there is not even a basic fan to circulate cooling air into, or out of, the motor compartment.

Even using the unit for 10 to 20 seconds cycles with pauses between caused the thermal cut-out to trip after about 30 minutes of intermittent use.

I think there would be potential risk of disc de-lamination,...

heels: j'ai essayé une multitude de machines de réparation de supports optiques, et je dois avouer que j'ai toujours été déçu en attendant d'utiliser celle-ci (j'ai même acheté des machines de 1000€ qui ne lui arrivent pas à la cheville), pour moi et mon expérience, la JFJ a LE meilleur rapport qualité/prix ! contrairement aux autres machines, elle n'utilise pas de polish liquide (qui au final sèche, croûte, salit etc ...). Elle utilise des abrasifs de différents grains ainsi que des polish en crème. Par contre, elle n'est pas "one step" (1 étape) contrairement à certaines où l'on place le cd à réparer, on règle un minuteur et on a plus qu'à attendre. La JFJ est plutôt à mon sens "3 steps" (3 étapes); 1/on choisit l'abrasif et le timing en fonction de la gravité des rayures 2/on polish avec la crème pour redonner la brillance 3/on termine en enlevant les résidus avec un spray nettoyant ; cela impose de rester à côté de la machine et d'être présent le temps du processus. Avant d'obtenir un résultat parfait, il faut "s'entraîner" à manipuler et à faire des essais avec différents abrasifs et timings (il y a 4 timing au choix), cela nécessite un petit...
