Saw some reviews that said it wasn't as bright as they thought. But it's so cheap, you can easily buy 2 and still pay less than a standard LED aquarium light for a 10G aquarium. The 11" should be able to go across the tank front-to-back, so you could line several of them up across a glass lid to get more light if you wanted.
I bought it for breeding tanks though. Bettas need a tiny bit of light at night to help pick up eggs that fall from the nest (they don't sleep much when watching a nest). This is PERFECT for it! I can even dim it so the betta has just barely enough light to see, but it's not super bright and keeping nearby tank inhabitants awake. The colors help too, as a red light is often the softest color.
I can also change colors to accent the different shades of other fish in bigger tanks, like discus or angelfish. The orange color looks amazing on my yellow marlboro discus!
For some planted tanks, I intend to get some (more) of these to put inside of the tank, directly above some of the harder-to-grow plants like Red Tiger Lotus, until they are well-established. I'm going to install them right on the glass facing directly on the...
