meandariel: I am reading this book out loud to my hubby, as a way of bonding and getting healthy together. He is typically cynical and quite frankly critical about most things A-Z but this is the first time I can remember that he has been open to this type of “bonding”. I took a chance that hubby would be more receptive and open to the book’s info if I read it out loud and it has worked! This book is so informative and well written, that it’s hard to put down. Being an SDA, I have known all of my life about the 7 laws of health, but have only been “playing” off and on at vegetarianism until now. In the few short days that we started reading Healthy at Last, we have made the monumental decision to live a vegetarian and eventually vegan lifestyle. Thank you so much for writing this book. You have turned a cynical man (my darling hubby) into a more compliant Individual who, by the way, was diagnosed as a diabetic about a week before I ordered the his book. Here’s to lowering his A1C and preventing myself and our little girl from a similar diagnosis.

Kathryn I Ferrier: March 23, 2021, this 66 year old was admitted to the ER, unrelated to diabetes. Routine blood work showed fasting glucose of 123. I know this is not as bad as some but this told me I needed to do something drastic. During the pandemic I gained a lot of weight due to cooking lots of foods that were delicious but very unhealthy. Ordered glucometer immediately, this verified my glucose was prediabetes range. Searched Amazon books for diabetes reversal and came across this gem on Kindle written by Eric Adams who currently is the amazing mayor of New York. This book may very well save my life as he is so relatable and through his dialogue gave me the knowledge and inspiration to make the changes needed for success. It took several months for my glucose numbers to fall into the normal range and it WAS NOT easy but so worth it. I have lost 45 pounds and am aiming toward 10 more. Confession: I am not always 100% vegan but I try on most days. I have learned what foods cause sugar spikes and they are typical: pasta, white rice, white potatoes , sugar. For some reason corn is ok in reasonable amounts. Typical breakfast is almond milk smoothie with blueberries, avocado, ground flaxseed and...

CC: The reader on Audible was excellent so I recommend getting it on Audible for that reason and b/c let's face it, we're too busy to absorb all of the excellent information. I will get the book b/c I want it, but I'm telling you, listen on Audible. My Mom is Vegan, I know what to do, I have not been consistent, and so for me I thought this might be more of the same. While the information, I knew a lot, its the way that the story was told that resonated with me personally. It was the way he drove home certain points, I felt like I was listening to a friend, a community leader and a professor all in one, and it kept me wanting to listen; my kid (13) was even listening, when I paused it (in the family room) He yelled for from the living room "turn that back on Mom"! I try to do things "indirectly" with him sometimes, and this book helped me to do that... I was captivated and informed, again, I knew a lot, but clearly we have to be told things in different and new ways for us to finally get it. I Really really enjoyed this entire book, it left me thinking. I can do this, and I love my family and myself enough to do this.... I love that he wasn't all or nothing like so many books are......

Amazon Customer: Great book if you’re new to wfpb, a little watered down if you already are experienced in the topic (which is not a criticism, as an information source it’s just a better book for beginners). Much of the book ties into the experiences of the black community, which was a very interesting perspective & super informative. Full of very compelling stories, testimonies, and experiences, from a wide range of people with a variety of illnesses. Covers all the major issues, including heart disease and his own diabetes etc. Great book if you’re interested in the success stories of others, looking for entry level information, and motivation. The book is a very easy to read and understand, and not overly medicalized and science-y.

Deni: Disappointed in this book. Think it's great that plant -based worked for him but the food is not too good. I tried the plant-based eggs and a so-called meat, and just gross. Book could have been better formatted and edited.
