This would have been a 5 star+ product, but one of the most important component broke within few uses. A great fryer is useless without a handle to recover your food. malmbrmalmbr: So I used this for the first time over the weekend to make homemade wings and tater tots (football food!). As others have already pointed out, the cord does not actually plug into the unit - it is magnetized as a safety feature and pops out whenever the unit is moved at all. Plus the cord is super short so I had to move a bunch of stuff around just to reach the outlet. However, the oil heated up rather quickly and the food turned out great - very tasty! The tots were golden and crisp, but not hard and, although I usually like for my wings to be a little more golden, they were cooked through completely and tasted really good. The tots cooked in about 7 minutes and came out of the basket with no problem. I cooked the wings for about 15 minutes and most of them stuck to the basket a little bit, so have to work on that. I would have like to just seal the cover and forget about it until next time, as it takes a while for the unit to cool and so I couldn't strain/empty the oil until the next day, but the lid seems pretty secure. I also would have liked to have had a 3rd (large) basket. Overall, though, I think it's a great product and worth keeping.

J Goodfellow: I want to rate this more like a 3.5 instead of a 4 or just a 3. It heats up very efficiently and quickly and we have enjoyed a variety of foods from this deep fryer. It's a great size as well, 2 batches of fries easily feeds 6 people (as a side dish, of course). The biggest problem is that the cord is ridiculously short. Our kitchen is set up with a flat top induction "stove" and downward vent, with no outlet. It is absolutely necessary to vent while cooking, as deep frying produces a LOT of steam. In order to set this up where we can actually vent, I have to use an extension cord (which is against the labelled safety warnings, I am absolutely aware, just because I do this I am not telling others to do so). I don't know what sort of layout they designed such a short cord to serve. The other thing is that it is awkward to clean. Trying to ensure you are washing and rinsing the heating coil ONLY and not getting the main electronic part soaked is a challenge, outside of hoping you aren't dripping oil all over your kitchen.
