The first one was lost in the deep woods of North Carolina during a questionable camping trip involving a generator and freshly fried donuts. I bought a replacement FryDaddy seven years ago, I've used it a million times, and it still works great.

I just bought this GranPappy because I sometimes need a little more room and a little more power.

The photo shows the two units side by each. Construction is nearly identical. They even use the same power cord. I measured both units. The little one pulls 1070 watts and holds four cups of oil to the line. The big one is 1370 watts and holds six cups of oil.

I have not used the big one yet, so I'll be back with a full review after the next chicken night.

Pam: Love the larger size. Looks and works just like the one we bought from department store before. Perfect size for cooking chicken strips . The dipper is durable and easy to clean. Fryer is a hand wash due to plug parts. Cooks quick and even. Have tried okra, fries, chicken strips and cheese sticks. Very happy with our purchase. Would buy again.

Keith: As a man who has been married for 20 years, I can tell you the pain of not being "allowed" to purchase a deep fryer.
"Why do you want a deep fryer? It's unhealthy. It's going to make a mess. Are you going to clean it?"

I decided to buy this model in specific, because I determined through LOTS of reading that it's going to be EASY TO OWN. Meaning, I think I can mitigate the mess with some good quality Costco paper towels AND cleaning it should be easy, it's only 2 parts. And I was right! Cleaning it takes 2 LITERAL minutes, if you have a hand-held sprayer (on your sink) like I do, cleaning this thing is a snap. Just make sure you have Dawn dish soap. That stuff kills oil quick!

To give you an idea of the capacity in real-world units, I used to work in a restaurant. A SERIOUS handful of frozen fries equaled 1 portion. Serious, meaning the fries are in your hand, but good luck with that grip. If you don't get them into the oil, they'll be on the floor. Got me? Anyway, this unit will EASILY cook 3 portions using the mentioned method. I've made a dozen Nathan's onion rings at once and I've also been able to fit 8 Gortons beer batter fish fillets...

The best deep fryer for home/family use. My mom's had one for many years now and I now know why. Easy to use and store away as compared to the bigger heftier oil fryers out in the marketplace. This heats up quickly every time and fantastic for cooking. It has no temperature regulator so you cannot set temperatures. However. Very easy to clean and dump out used oil. The cord is attached at the base magnetically so you can detatch the cord also for easy storage.
It comes with a plastic lid on top. Bottom line since it is such a simple unit it works wonderfully.
