Bill Derby: This is my first deep fryer and I really like it except for one thing.
Even though all of the ads for Hamilton Beach deep fryers state that the basket can be cleaned in the dishwasher, mine started rusting after a couple of washes in my dishwasher. HB service claims that the baskets are not to be cleaned in the dishwasher and doing so voids the warranty. There is no such warning in the owner's manual. They actually sent me a link to buy a new basket for $15.99 plus shipping and taxes but after I protested they offered to send me a new one free of charge including shipping.

Accident: I started out ordering a commercial one but before I click on order, I re- thought and went searching again. And came upon this one.

A whole lot less expensive and a lot more smaller.

But in using it, it was just what I needed for my wife and my self. Plus, it will cook chicken breast for a group of 6 very good and fairly fast.

Easy to clean up, just put it away—- oil and all.
Lol— just kidding.

But it is easy to clean up and store.
What I really love about it is:

The tank is very firm and made of metal which has a coating that looks like ceramic.

So, if you need a cooker that will get the job done for a family of 4, then this is the one to get.

Phil Stracchino (Technical Thug): These days, very few brands manufacture their own consumer products any more. They're all made in China and sold under a dozen different brands.

So it is with this fryer. It is in all but a few respects almost identical to the Oster Professional 15-cup fryer. The differences are:
- The Oster's vat is an inch deeper
- The Oster's controller has a timer you'll probably never use
- The Oster's lid has a window that fogs up, and a filtered steam vent that you can't buy replacement filters for
And, the Oster lists for a third more (unless you can catch it on sale).

Now, what do these mean?

Well, it holds a little less oil. Will this matter to you? PROBABLY not.
You can't see your food cooking through the lid. But then, having owned both, the honest truth is, you can't see it cooking in the Oster without lifting the lid, either. So forget about the window.
The replaceable filter in the Oster is a good idea, but you can't buy replacements, so once the filter elements get saturated with oil spray, you'll have to make your own.
And then there's the controller. The only difference between the two controllers is that the Oster's has a timer. Which,...

rmartine: La he usado para hacer pollo papas pescado kives tacos dorados boneless ajos fritos etcétera etcétera y puedo decir que a pesar de que lleva 3 litros de aceite funciona muy bien las papas quedan parejitas y el aceite no se deteriora tan rápido como si usara un sartén queda muy limpio y se puede rehusar claramente es un buen producto

Mister Pants: I really wanted to like this deep fryer...

The first one I bought arrived and I carefully unpacked it and inspected it. It's pretty nicely made and I like its compact size. In order to test the digital timer, I set it to a couple of minutes and let it count down after which it started beeping.

And never stopped.

The timer battery is non-user replaceable so back in the box it went and I requested a replacement unit. I have to admit, I was a little worried a couple of days later when I was at the post office, trying to post a beeping package...

Anyway, the replacement arrived and once again I opened the box, put a couple of minutes on the timer again to verify it was working, and then the digital timer screen just went blank. No, a non-functioning timer isn't necessarily the end of the world (especially since the beep is so quiet you never hear it over the deep fryers noise anyhow). But it's the principal; two of the same items arrived the same component defective.
