I bought it to make Scotch Broth. Had never used barley rice before. It is easy to soften with soaking and easy to cook in the soup. I add barley last when making scotch broth. As long as I let the kernel remain on the the top (the soup is dense without barley), it will not stick to the bottom. Once the barley gets cooked well, I them mix it with the rest of the soup.
