HC: This circuit board has been installed for about seven months. The heating and cooling works. However, the re-circulation fan function is not available. So to have a fan on you must have a heat or AC mode on. I guess its a minor inconvenience. The replacement is straight forward for those that are mechanically inclined. I used my cell phone to take a picture of the old board connections and the new board had the same connections in the same places. The most difficult part of the installation is getting access to the board. Mine was in the attic and a pain to get to.

I'm reviewing the updated Goodman Heater Control Board replacement for the older B18099-13 version. This control board is for a Forced Air Goodman Furnace fueled by Natural Gas. Model # GMT090-3B and Serial # 0405208819. You can view the supplied photos for more info.
The reason I decided to go with this control board, was I did find a failure of one of the relays on the old board specifically. I'd like to start out by saying, I am no HVAC expert but have serviced many heaters and AC units in the past. I am a Jill of all trades with mainly being the best or most well versed in automotive. I would say don't attempt this type of work, to anyone who isn't knowledgeable enough in the field of electrical or HVAC. My friend had asked me to give him an opinion and to see if I could repair this unit. I told him I'd give it a shot, but if uncomfortable at all, I'd let him know and I'd pass. I brought some basic tools with me for the diag... Fluke meter, Inductive Ammeter, noncontact voltage pen, multifunction electrical pliers, electrical tape, and multitipped driver.
How did I diagnose this particular unit or issue?
1. I first went over the electrical...

Conic Ellipse: I'm not a furnace technician but I'll do the best that I can to describe why I bought this and how it's working for me.
The Furnace Control circuit board went out on my Goodman furnace. More to the point, it started malfunctioning. Whenever it was time for the flames to kick on, it wouldn't. Well, sometimes it would and sometimes it wouldn't. I got really tired of cold air blowing out.
I placed several (expensive) service calls over the last 4 years as each tech tried to figure out what was wrong with my system. Almost every other part in the system had been replaced (at great cost). This one was the only one left. My tech said it was showing 24 volts to the gas valve like it's supposed to. But, for some reason, when it was time for the gas valve to open, the voltage dropped to zero.
My original board was manufactured in 1999. That makes it 16 years old (at the time of this writing). Instead of going for the 1999 model replacement, I opted for this upgraded model. There is very little difference when you eyeball this board against the old one (which is also available on Amazon). I figured they changed a few parts for a reason though, so I opted to order this...
