Jessica: I love parenting books and read a lot of different non-fiction books but at times, I want something funny but informative. This is a good book for both! I am raising three neurodiverse children who LOVE to push my buttons. We were going through a rough time with our youngest (who has ODD and Autism) and I needed a fresh take on parenting. This book was perfect! I was able to read it within a week and use some of the practices in my life.

It's a good reminder that I need to work on my on trauma and emotions before I can appropriately react to my child. So many times our children trigger an emotional response with their actions or behaviors and we forget to take a step back and breathe before reacting. I was able to take a deeper look at myself and my childhood to help me better parent my children.

I highly suggest reading this if you are struggling with parenting your children and how you react to your children. We all lose our "stuff" sometimes, and that's okay. This book just teaches us how to do it less, what to do when we do lose it and how to continue to work on ourselves so we can be the best parents to our children.

Deanna La Curador: I’m super glad I kept reading and bought this book! I’m more than half way through it now and it has been very helpful. Some of the pages had ink missing and that turned me off but the content is worth it. Lol there are some corny jokes but she gets to the meat of things and I appreciate it! Def recommend

Leanne Fahlman: Some parts seemed to drag on and be repetitive while some of the more important topics seemed a bit short and lacked detail. This book is more about understandig your emotions and triggers and WHY it happens (aka just about getting over stimulated) vs how to deal with it and overcome them - which is more what I was looking for. A one sentence handful of suggestions (asking for help and meditation for example) but didn’t really go into depth about that or coming up with a realistic long term plan. Was also hoping to it covered more “gentle parenting” techniques - which it does not.

All in all if you are JUST starting on the path of self improvement as a person / parent - this is an easy starting place. If you are more aware of your emotions and triggers (like I was) you won’t get much from this book.

MonicaMonica: I didn’t get to read the book yet; I have skimmed the first few pages, and it looks like a good read. I ordered several parenting books mainly for personal enrichment (we can all find areas of our parenting to reflect and improve on), and this book in particular caught my eye because, for one, my fiancé’s patience is a bit more thin than I’d appreciate and so he tends to react to situations more quickly than he should (in my opinion), and two, admittedly, I also occasionally find myself visibly frustrated with my kids and afterwards feel terrible as I realize I could have maintained my composure much better in the moment, so I figured this book would be a useful tool for the both of us.

Between buying this book and five other parenting books (including the whole-minded child, the 5 love languages of children, etc), the Amazon associate who packaged my books must have thought I was having a mental breakdown! So to my surprise, I pull out the stack of books to find this post-it with an affirming message on the top, and it really made me tear up. Such a small, simple gesture that probably took her/him 20 seconds to write and stick on really made a positive impact on my...

Morgan Kirby: Amazing! I only just started reading itm and it's like talking to a real person. She writes as if though she's having a face to face conversation. Within the 1st page I was already connecting to it. In always freaking out while my husband is always calm. She gives amazing advice and doesn't beat around the bush. Nore does she use stupid long words that no one knows the meaning of. Its easy to read, relatable, fun and all around very well put together and written.

Stacy: This book made me feel so much better about myself. I'm not saying that I'm totally psycho, I just really thought that mentally, there was something serious going on. I have been on antidepressants for 8 years, so I thought that maybe they just weren't cutting it anymore, or maybe it was something more than depression.
However, turns out that there are lots of things in our modern way of life, that can turn any parent into a raging cow. And the worst part is, you don't even realize it and think that you're just a bad parent or that there's something wrong with you.
The author uses a lot of personal examples, which was wonderful. Hearing that even a psychologist can lose it on their kids sometimes, definitely makes you feel like you are actually normal.
My husband and I both found though that the beginning of the book kind of makes you feel like crap, I think it's because it was like you really shouldn't lose it on your kids all the time, it's not good for them. Obviously I know that, but being reminded of that fact sucks. But then it gets into why you're losing it, why it's not your fault, and what you can do about it. Very helpful book. I'd recommend to every parent.

StephanieStephanie: I was angry I was disappointed I needed I drink I knew I had to do something so I opened the book and just felt good, it felt good to be understood to be helped, to have lift that mom guilt and finally know exactly what to do, something that I never got before, that no matter how many books I read or how many people gave me advice I just didn’t know what was it that I needed to fix.. this book help me understand the nature of kids being kids and the nature of me being a mom who’s having a hard time being a mom because yes is very hard.
