L. Davis: This grab bar was easy to install vertically on a wooden door frame. The included screws look very substantial and long enough to install through wallboard into a stud. They were too long for my application, so I used one-inch wood screws instead. The brushed finish was fine for my use (not in a bathroom); I can't say how well it would work with wet hands.

Amazon Customer: You carried the one I needed, most of the box stores only offered lengths that didn't land on any studs 16" on center should be multiples of 16" not 18",36" or 42" Something that only holds on the 1/2" dry wall isn't sturdy.

Raymond Ward: The 1-1/2" wide bar is much easier to grab for someone with arthritis. The bar looks sturdy although I haven't installed it yet. Six 2-1/2" wood screws are provided, an additional four can be installed if desired. I plan on attaching it directly to a wood door frame, but not in a bathroom. I am pleased with the purchase.

Raymond K. Wiberg: I purchased 5 grab bars for various locations (4 within my shower stall and 1 outside). They are extremely well made and do the trick beautifully. Someone out there complained that these were not for hollow walls. True enough, but I purchased some 1/4-20 Toggler Snaptoggle fasteners from Amazon. These are a relatively new product and VASTLY superior to the spring-loaded "V" toggle bolts of yore in that they lie flat against the substrate. I used these to secure the grab bars to the inside wall of my fiberglass stall. They worked beautifully, and the installation is solid as a rock. I used three (3) bolts per flange. A bit of trouble, but well wort the effort. If one has a ceramic tiled wall and the stud configuration (stud spacing) doesn't work out well for positioning of the bar, I'd recommend carefully drilling through the tiles with a masonry bit and installing them with the Snaptogglers. You won't have the strength of a 500-pound pulling force, but it should be adequate as an assist bar. If in doubt, you'll need someone to open up the adjacent wall to install a reinforcing plate (2X4 or 3/4-in plywood) anchored to the adjacent studs. Either way, the bar itself is a good buy,...

Brian G Carter: First class item, however be prepared to mount it securely with your own hardware. If you can locate the studs in the wall you will have the best looking grab bar around. I am not a fan of chrome for this application, brushed stainless steel has a higher quality look to it. Also, you can't beat the price!
