Get the best Aquarium Lights for your tank with the Finnex Planted+ 24/7 HLC Aquarium LED Light.Sam E: I bought this because I need brighter tank lights to fight algae and I also wanted something that would gradually shift from light to dark without daily intervention. The directions are written well enough to understand how to change the settings. The only problem I have with it, is you cannot set it's clock to just any time. When setting the time, you select either 12am, 3am, 6am, etc. But it is "set it and forget it" once you get through the setup. And it's not a terrible price. It's a good option for lighting beginners.

Amazon Customer: Bought one for a 20 Long Low Tech 10 months ago. It grows plants well. The default 24/7 cycle has worked fine for me. I've successfully grown Java Fern, Java Moss, Anubias, Rotala, Bacopa, and Amazon Sword. I recently got one for my 75 that I have just added CO2 to go high tech. For an 18-inch front to back high-tech tank, you really need two of these or this and another light. I have an older Finnex Stingray 2 on a timer to run 6 hours while this light is at its brightest, and it seems to be growing plants well. The red and green lights, particularly at sunrise and sunset, really make the fish and plant colors pop!

Apex AquaticsApex Aquatics: I cannot stress enough how much we love these light fixtures. Metal, sleek, discreet, bright, highly programmable, reliable, and durable are a few of the many adjectives I would use to describe these lights. We use these fixtures on all of our freshwater live planted tanks as well as order them for our clients when getting them set up with new equipment. Below I will highlight some key pros about these lights (note: there are no cons)
Pros:
The Lighting
- These lights are bright at their highest setting, and plenty strong enough to reach the lowest parts of most tanks (no PAR values though, sorry!). With the customization built into the remote and 24/7 functionality, they can be set to an incredibly wide range of color wavelengths as well as intensities to suit your tanks needs. This makes it very easy to make adjustments to combat algae growth over time.
The 24/7 Function and Remote:
- Simple to set up, reliable lighting. With other lights, I have had issues with their timer settings using the small boxes integrated to the cord. In power outages, those ones will reset and not turn back on until you manually do so and will need to reset the timer. That is...

Charles Crandall: I've had this for a year and a half now, so far so good. Bought this when setting up a tank for the first time in over ten years. Fish tank and lighting tech has come a long way since I last tried to have a planted tank. I didn't want to spend too much not knowing if my new tank would be successful. At first I probably had it on too bright and the programming can be a little intimidating, but I learned more about the spectrum and growing plants while trying to set up this light. I now use an external timer, mostly because of power outages in my area causing the schedule to be off. I have not been gentle on this light, it has taken a few falls, at least once into the tank (I promptly pulled the cord and let it dry a few days before turning it back on) and several times off the tank. If I have a complaint about this light it's the fiddly supports. I might try to hang it from the cieling. Most of the plants I've grown are pretty basic, anubias, cryptocoryne, dwarf sagittaria, ludwigia but I have a tiger lotus plant too. The spread of this light is not that wide, I see some people have doubled them up, but I think the narrower light works well for my fish so they can hide in the back...

PublicAnon: I purchased one of these at the beginning of December and this is a very poor quality product, in my opinion, I'm afraid to say. For the £75 I paid at the time they could have done a much better job from a design perspective.
First of all, setting up the device so that it automatically changes the light intensity at different times of the day is a challenge. There is a built-in default mode that did work but if for any reason you turn off the device by the plug you appear to have to set up the whole thing again and the procedure isn't obvious so do not lose the manual! The timer is based on 3hour slots -12 am, 3 am, 6 am, etc. If it is 4:30 pm you have to choose either 3 pm or 6 pm and go with that. If you're happy to have this chosen light intensity all day long then that's fine and is a one-button press otherwise you have to go back into setup again to set the closest time.
Also, I live in the UK and this came with a non-UK adapter so make sure you have a UK conversion adapter to hand.
To top all this off after a while I noticed that condensation was getting inside the device which then started to grow mould behind the plastic glass. The device is sealed in such a way...

Amazon CustomerAmazon Customer: This light is fantastic
I live in the UK and have a tank with the fluval planted 3 on and its a good light but wanted something different for my 70 litre shrimp tank, I always heard good things about finnex from people across the pond so I took a chance and purchased the planted 24/7.
Well I'm glad I did
Only downside is the brackets could be better quality but still ok and the light is fantastic and growing my plants well without co2.
Highly recommended and would not hesitate to purchase another one.

digitalfishpc: It's a fabulous light for an aquarium. What is very good about this light is that its brilliant leg design is such that it can used for both rimless and braced tanks. Most of the new led lights are for rimless tanks. It is so easy to put the legs onto the fish tank. It's relatively stable too. The other plus is the 24 hour light scenes. Just leave on alone and it should imitate mother nature's lighting timings. The light is sufficient for a planted tank but if you want faster plant growth, especially for your red plants, you need to look at another brand. It is a very good light for those who are not willing to spend too much on lighting for your aquarium. I recommend it highly.

Coleman Family: This light is awesome. If You’re having a problem with algae bloom in your aquarium. It is probably due to the light when my old Finnex stopped working after eight years, I went to the pet store and got a replacement, and immediately started having one algae bloom after the next, I finally returned all of the pet store lights, and went back to Finnex, and no more algae blooms! The way it cycles the light through the hours prevents from too much bright light on for too long and that is what prevents the algae blooms
