These Field and stream books are loaded with many years of helpful hints from their great writers, great photos and illustrations, and unforgettable stories. Early in the morning when everyone is asleep, I grab a cup of coffee and get lost in the great outdoors. What do love is the advice on what you do need and don't need.

All I really need to say is that the Field and Stream books all come highly recommended. This book holds a wealth of great information. I believe I have a great deal of if memorized now.

This thing is pretty cool! Ive learned a lot just from briefly flipping through the pages. It seems maybe a bit geared toward the slightly more country person but i still love it. they probably could have split up the "survive" section i also thought this would be the biggest section but it wasn't as extensive as i had hoped it would be.

My husband and I originally received this book for Christmas a year ago (2012). We liked it so much that we purchased it again for a gift exchange with my family this past Christmas (2013). My brother-in-law ended up receiving this gift and loves it. It in perfect for him. He is a big fisherman. My husband hunts, enjoys camping and generally being outdoors. This is a great guide for general survival skills, hunting tips, boy scout like advice and fishing techniques. My husband's favorite thing about this outdoorsman book is detailed survival skills. Any man feels manly learning about those! Great value with lots of content.

Ok this is a good, fun read. The kind of book you leave in the bathroom or in the car to kill time. There's a lot of tips covering four general topics (Shelter, Fishing, Hunting, Survival) but that's pretty much it, tips. Don't take this book too seriously. Actually there's a good deal of humor in it. You won't really learn much with this book because the content is kind of shallow at times. Now don't get me wrong, it is still a good book. It offers a good variety of good & handy tips and advices but it is not really a teaching tool. It doesn't go into deep, detailed explanation. The authors kept it short & sweet, which is not a bad thing, but don't expect this to be the ''ultimate outdoorsman skills'' bible or something like that. Take it for what it is, a fun read with great tips.
