Chris: If you are obsessed with position 4 clean strat tones this is the pickup set for you. I auditioned a lot of pickups and settled on this and boy am i glad i did. I will say for overdriven tones its not that noticeable from the mid-90s era factory pickups that were in my guitar, but for those shimmery cleans these things absolutely sing. It is the "the sound" you are looking for, if you know what i mean.

I shielded the entire inside cavity of my strat when i put this pick-guard in and the pickups are super silent. The guy who does setups for me asked if they were "noisless" (humbucker) pickups because of how quiet it was. I recommend doing a copper-tape shielding job while you have your guitar open for surgery.

Francesco: Il suono mi sembra top, ma non ho termine di paragone, segnalo che avrei preferito un'altra scatola anonima all'esterno e non la scatola del battipenna con i pickup che lasciava presagirne il contenuto, inoltre avrebbe offerto una protezione maggiore, dato che i corrieri se ne fregano e lo avranno risposto, pur vedendone il contenuto, in fondo ad altri pacchi, come dimostrano i segni sul cartone lasciati dalle saldature dei pickup nonché le stesse trovate in parte ripiegate su almeno uno dei pickup. Solo per questo motivo, 4 stars!

MPB: I installed this loaded pickguard in my Squier 40th anniversary Stratocaster because the guitar came with very bad pickups and a bad switch. The loaded pickguard comes with pickups, switch, knobs and pots that are prewired and are high Fender quality items. The installation was easy and took me about an hour. The Squier 40th anniversary guitar is really a great guitar, and the pickups it came with don't do the guitar justice at all, but the Tex Mex loaded pickguard transforms the Squier into a true professional's instrument. I have been playing guitar for over 50 years, and when I say this combo is great, I really mean it! In fact I like it better than my Fender Roadhous Deluxe, which is a great guitar also.

Jörg: ...nachdem für ein defektes Set dieser Ersatz kam, welches zudem ohne QA-Kontrolle/Signatur aus dem Werk ging. Zumindest war der Kleber nicht unterschrieben.

Cremig und moderner Vintage Touch - ein Traum. Nicht ohne Grund zählen die Tex-Mex Pickups zu den beliebtesten PUs ihrer Art.
Einbau geht flott von der Hand. Solide Verarbeitung, alles sitzt gut und passt, inklusive Bohrlöcher für die neuen Squier Sonic Bodys. Der moderne Kompromiss zwischen Output und klassischem Vintage-Klang.
Spielt sich gut, hört sich gut an.

Wer doch mehr 1:1 authentischen Vintage-Klang haben will/muss, der sollte die Fat50/Tex-Mex-Special oder 57/62 PUs in Betracht ziehen.

Rick Jones: The media could not be loaded.  In an earlier review (that I can’t edit) I stated that this loaded ‘guard comes with a 500k volume pot. Well the one I bought used, previously must have been altered, because I bought another one for an American special strat that I use a lot, and it had the 250k/500k dual gang volume and 2x 1meg time pots.

It’s great. The wiring is tidy, soldering likewise.

I’m a fan of the Shawbucker. It is microphonic and will suffer mic-style feedback easily on loud stages with higher gain settings, but if you control that with your positioning and volume pot you are rewarded with a much twangier, livelier humbucker than a JB or similar. That might not be what you’re after, but it does country and rock/metal convincingly and matches well with strat sounds.

The N4 noiseless are also great. They don’t sound exactly like single coils, the neck is fat and round and like an exaggerated tele neck pup, kind of… but, the inbetween setting is actually very convincing and you can get a very stratty tone.

Their noise-cancelling is very useful in bars with old-fashioned dimmer switched lighting. I have one regular gig like...

angel4hire: Acquired for upgrading a recent purchase of a mint condition Plus Top Strat with Mex Fat Strat pickups.
The difference in sound quality (incredible) was what one would hope to expect and not just settle for which can be the case in most circumstances. Purchasing the white option (of 3) afforded a savings that allowed for buying a custom color match pearl pickguard at a cost of only 1/3 of the total savings.
The install of the Shawbucker was relatively easy with the exception of the switch made incorporating a custom pickguard that required some added time.
This purchase was a prime example of an Amazon shopping experience that had the ability to enlighten the mind, inspire the soul, and touch the heart all without breaking the bank.
