Angela C. Adams: does good job

Susan: In my opinion, most of the recipes in this cookbook require tons of ingredients and prepping them is time consuming. Now, there are some recipes that I made that had fewer ingredients and turned out well. I stuck with oatmeal for breakfast and I made some of the easier stews/chili. I’m going to read the Quick and Easy version next, as I believe it was created in response to the fact that the recipes in the original cookbook were too long. I mean, who has the time to juice 5lbs of carrots to put in a soup/stew? Anyway, I would say if you love to cook and have loads of time, you may make more of the recipes from this book than I did. Overall though, they are very healthy and that’s the point.

Lynnette: this was a gift for someone and they really like it

HealthFreak: This is a game changer. Over the years, I've been vegetarian, omnivore, pescatarian, tried endless different diets everything from cabbages to kings, this book really gives readers the opportunity to create their own nutritarian lifestyle - not a fad, a whole new perspective and lens on food, eating, cooking, health.
For me, it goes hand in hand with Michael Gregor MD (How not to Die), William Li MD (Eat to Beat Disease),
plus all the web content these guys and others have uploaded to educate not just palates but our whole approach to how to cook (ie no oil sauteing, water instead, beaut food combinations like cacao and avocado and dates etc for chocolate pudding.)
I got to the point where I was eating healthily (supposedly) and getting bored stiff of eating.
I looked through the book for the 1st time last night, was salivating uncontrollably every other page,
mentally ticking off recipe after recipe I wanted to try - AND adapt. There's no recipe fascism here - as DR Fuhrman says, "just use the veggies you have in the fridge", leaving room for experimentation and improv.
When you buy this book, get ready to retrain your cooking repertoire, the salad dressings are...

MV: For my review, I am posting a letter I just wrote to Dr. Fuhrman. It sums up the reversal of my diabetes and high cholesterol in just over three months;
Dr. Fuhurman,
I am writing you to thank you for giving me the tools to turn my life around after reading your books I feel that this sounds like a cliché, but it is the only think I can say.
The short story is that on March 9, 2016 I was being tested to see if I could lower my very high life-insurance monthly payments and I had my first A1C test done. It came in at 6.5. I knew I had some high fasting blood sugar levels (usually the highs between 109 and 130) but I did not know I was on the doorstep of diabetes. I don’t know why none of my doctors ever had me take an A1C before. This seemed like a death sentence since my father had lost a leg and died of causes related to his Type 2 diabetes.
I had picked up your book The End of Diabetes several years ago and tried it but stopped. Now I picked it up and read it with a new commitment. It is now three months later and the results are nothing but miraculous. I have lost 25 pounds (198 to 173 pounds). My A1C is now 5.5. My cholesterol went from the low...

JThommers: The only thing that prevents this from being a five star review is the fact that the recipes do rely on the Dr's own product range for seasoning. Fortunately I am able to improvise with my own herb and spice collection. Otherwise I love this book. The results I have achieved are often stunning - for example the pears poached in pomegranate juice with chocolate sauce and raspberry coulis - I have never, ever been a dessert person and have never been very good at making them. But this was a restaurant quality hit - totally delicious! I have moved on to Joel Fuhrman's books following a Reboot With Joe, and the combination of these books has been a game changer for me. Having been experiencing increased migraine activity due to food sensitivities, since juicing and cooking with these recipes, I have not had one migraine. In addition, these recipes have helped convert my meat oriented partner easily to eating 'vegan' the majority of the time. We both feel significantly better and much healthier. Worth the investment and effort in creating these recipes.

Wilma Stacey: I read and followed Dr. Fuhrman's Eat to Live Cookbook as well as his original Eat to Live book. No doubt his research was excellent before writing those books. However, I am not sure if this cookbook is for everybody as all the recipes are very high in carbohydrates. Some meals may contain over 50 mg of carbohydrates. it could certainly bee good for lots of people but I found it was not good for me. I was not used to eat so much carbohydrates (even though they are healthy carbohydrates from fruit and veggies). But some meals, especially breakfasts taste very sweet. No wonder I could not finish the meal. I followed this cookbook for 4 weeks and lost most of the weight in the first week but then it stopped and ii the following weeks the weight sort of maintained, even though I followed Dr. Fuhrman's recipes and meal plans to the letter. I guess the reason was too much carbs. I am not on any medications so the weight maintenance couldn't be due to prescription drugs and I exercise regularly as well. Surprisingly, I didn't feel deprived at all while I followed these new recipes. However, I had to discontinue this because I started to have cramps in my legs and too much intestinal gas...

R. Cronise: I think this is a great place to start if you want to test the waters a bit and see what eating nutritarian is all about. The first 30 pages have everything you need to get started. It won't require the all out chaos in the family meal plan - occurring when the family is forced to eat what you are eating; rather, you can fix any one of these fantastic recipes as a side dish and skip the main course. They will like it too.
If you aren't familiar with what Dr. Fuhrman teaches, there is a enough instruction in the book to get a good overview. I didn't begin to eat greens regularly until 3 years ago when I started following the Eat to Live plan. Now, they are a normal part of my diet and I don't think twice about it - I wish I had THIS cookbook in 2009!
There are a couple of points that should be emphasized. First, he clearly explains that it's better to add vegetables and fruits to your diet than to be overly focused about organic/GMO/etc... Not that these are unimportant, but if cost or availability is a concern, eating regular versions of these vegetables is far better than skipping. He points out that most science studies cited for health benefits used conventional...
