from metabolic disorder. However, the diet would be very hard to strictly follow. But he presents a
number of good diet tips that I am using myself.

Joan Todd: I have no comments on this book, I only returned it, for it was a soft cover, which I try to keep hard cover copies in my collection. And not knowing , I do have similar books on eating the right foods.

Amazon Customer: This book has been updated by more recent editions by the author, however, I am really happy I got this book, which is the original state of the author's thinking. I think since publishing this book in 2008, author has become more sensitive to the world's opinion and changed his bold, unconventional and unspoken views. I like reading his observations, his findings and his research that is still unaltered, unadulterated and pure. He has some very Oscar worthy knowledge but with time his findings have changed in the view of the public pressure I guess. This book is gold. One does not necessarily have to follow everything it says, after all the book only provides research no preaching at all.

Harlen Bayha: I've used this system for over a year now. It is awesome, and has changed my outlook on the world around me. Simply realizing the effect different types of food have on my body is critical. The concept of summer and winter foods is amazing and works like a charm.
First, the good things, the things to focus on:
Results:
I lost about 40lbs so far
I got my BMI down to the healthy range
I am below my weight as an 18 year old (I am 39)
People tell me how I have changed for the better
I took off about 6 inches in my waistline
Most of this happened in the first 3 months
I've held my current weight for about 6 months
Cholesterol and other indicators moved to far healthier levels
I can live with this diet. It is doable. The results happen fast and make the system fun.
Challenges:
Getting your family to remove or reduce bread access in the house, and to not make bread-based foods. Dr. Gundry talks about the strong desire to eat any and all available high-sugar, high-carb foods is so strong that you need cooperation from your team on this, especially when you're starting out.

J. Storey: At first glance, Dr. Gundry's Diet Evolution looks like it is promoting the typical low-carb plan with different phases, already familiar to folks who have followed the South Beach Diet, Atkins, etc.
You start out with a typical "induction" phase with zero fruits, dairy or starches, then move later into a more modified game-plan with some low-glycemic fruits and even a few small 1/2 cup servings of true "whole grains" thrown in...all of which is familiar to low-carb fans. As every low-carber knows, keeping an sharp eye on starches (and even excess fruit) helps tremendously with weight loss and drastically improves one's blood lipid profile. Alas, the medical establishment as a whole still does not officially support the use of low-starch diets to help normalize weight or blood lipids, which says volumes about the sheer inability of our health organizations- over decades- to come to terms with what really works in lifestyle modifications. As I've mentioned elsewhere, getting your nutrition advice from your doctor (especially if he/she is the typically busy/lazy practitioner who sees all treatment in terms of drugs) is probably a poor idea. CharCzar: Thought I would order this book after seeing this guy on PBS. This diet is very much like a lot of other books I have read. Of course, I have got a lot of diet books but this is the last one I will buy. It is similar to the Whole 30 and the low carb diets which I am familiar with. Deciding if I plan to keep it or return it.
