Norman Johnson: I needed a good restart and wanted to get rid of those unwanted cravings. I wasn't sure about "green" smoothies, but I have to say they were all delicious. I read the book and post marked and highlighted information before starting the diet. The first day or two was a little tough but after that I found all the smoothies very filling. I put 1 scoop of vegan protein in each day, which I think helped keeping me more full. In the 10 days I lost 7lbs. She also has some clean meal recipes to try at the end of the book and pages of other smoothies for targeting different things like healthy skin, weight loss, dietary issues etc. I recommend this cleanse for anyone who wants a fresh start and plans on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Summerbroom: I don't write reviews but I literally can't stop talking about this book and I'm hoping if I do, this may help someone.
I was unwell before Christmas with issues with my stomach, I have a hiatus hernia and have spent the last 10 years on perscrition drugs to sort the pain I get. Before Christmas they wanted to up my medication again cause the pain got worse. I'm not over weight and I'm only 40 and being on more medication was just heart breaking.

RG: I highly recommend this book. It does what it says on the front cover. Anyone who has been stuck trying to shift unwanted weight for any reason over the years and have tried every diet going. Try this! If you don't lose at the end of the 10 days, then two things, you didn't follow the plan as instructed and/or (in the most respectful way) something else is wrong and you may need to consult your doctor/specialist.
I developed a knee injury over the years as a result of playing sports and athletics in my younger years and couldn't run or exercise as I usually do or wanted to and was in a lot of pain with my knee. I gained 1 stone and 10lbs in weight, I felt awful and was becoming depressed from not being able to shift the weight and just feeling too heavy. Char: I was skepticle but willing with this detox. I wanted to lessen my sweet cravings as well as generally making healthier choices. I don't own a scales and I suggest you forget the scales for 10 days!!
Days 1 & 2 were fine, I had small background headaches but that was due to having less caffeine. Day 3 & 4 were also OK as I researched a few different snacks and treated myself to a Nakd bar as I didn't invest in square bars. Day 5 was torture and I ate more than I should have inc protein balls that had milk in. However it was a slow Sunday so I recommend organising stuff to do on the weekends! Days 6 - 10 were fine, the smoothies and snacks sufficed my hunger on the whole and I felt good.
The smoothies were mostly nice, I enjoyed the ones without mixed berries as I prefer a smoother texture. I prepared 5 days worth of fruit and froze it bar the apples. It makes life easier! I would suggest you invest in Truvia (stevia) definitely invest in nuts and seeds for snacks and eggs, tuna & vegan Mayo were heaven!!

Amazon Customer: Following this "cleanse" will mean that you reduce your calorie intake and thus lose weight. I am not sure if it is the miracle cure, as I certainly did not lose masses of weight, but I did lose some. I replaced breakfast and lunch with smoothies and ate a high protein, low carb dinner. I had one or two days of feeling energised, but most of the time I was quite tired at the end of the day - I guess it was the fact that I was surviving on less calories.
I now make smoothies a part of my permanent weight loss programme. I am also doing the following: drinking detox teas each morning (Bootea or others), which have the affect of reducing my appetite; snacking on nuts, fruit or veg when I am hungry; doing a cardio work out 4 -5 times a week; reducing carbs in my diet.
I am losing about 1 - 2lbs per week and my waist is reducing by about 1 inch per week. I would love the weight loss to be more, but perhaps I have a slower metabolism as I am now in my mid-40s. Update (2/16): I had a family tragedy, which put me into a depressed tail spin. I gained all my weight back and found 10 more pounds (sigh). After a lot of soul searching, crying, and frustration, I remembered I had JJ’s book. So, I blew off the dust, yesterday (2/15), and started all over.
This is what I did....
1. I burned 2,100 calories, without exercising. And, normally, I have to walk 5 miles to burn that many calories.
2. I drank half my body weight in water - throughout the day. And it was REAL easy, because my stomach wasn’t clogged up with food.
3. I drank my Yogi Peach Detox tea
4. I drank my 3 smoothies with a packet of Starkist Chink Light Tuna (low sodium with water), and a hard-boiled egg as a snack.

TJames09: I'm on day 9 and I lost so far 6lbs. I really thought I would have had better will power to tough through the hunger that comes from this 10 day cleanse but it is REALLY tough. First off 10 days is an incredibly long time to not eat food when you start this (I thought it would be easier). I started the cleanse with the idea of doing the 3 shakes a day and the snacks of veggies and nuts. But after day 1 I realized that was impossible for me. I felt terrible at the end of day 1, hungry, tired, drained. I started day 2 with the alternate plan of 2 shakes and a meal at the end of the day. This was much more manageable and definitely suited me better.
Some of the shakes tasted really good and some others were a little harder to stomach (but that's a personal preference). I found anything with apples in it tasted not as good, as it left it very thick in the shake. This program was also more or less impossible to do on the weekend for me. I spent Saturday not at home and needed to eat lunch and dinner somewhere else, and there's no smoothie cleanse shakes where I was. So the reality of 10 days on this can be a bit tough unless you stay at home for 10 days (if you have to go out...

Im not a believer of diets or drastic changes in you eating habits. That only means temporary change=body harm.
Im a 31 y/o. No kids. Married. With a 7:30-5:00 job. A 40 min commute. And a fitbit watch to try to achieve at least 8,000 steps a day. In other words, Im kinda normal.
I always was underweight. My ideal weight used to be 106-110. Im only 5ft. When I turned 26 my weight started to change due to bad eating habits. I went to 125, then 135 and finally 145. I started watching what I was eating about two years ago, but loosing that extra weight hasn't been easy.
As per my primary doc, my ideal weight for my height and age should be 115-125. I dont know how to achieve that!
I do not consume sugars/sweets because I simply dont like them. My weakness is beer and buffalo wings. I dont eat salty either, it became a habit after my dad got a heart surgery about ten years ago.

Jordan: everything I know and love about green smoothies I learned from JJ Smith
I bought this book several years ago and have attempted the cleanse or modified cleans a couple times felt *amazing* after. It just all makes sense and the purpose isn't to be hungry, which I appreciated. There are accompanying online support groups too.
Even when I'm not committed to the whole cleanse process, I still use the basic recipes or slightly adapted versions several times a week and love to share with friends who I worry aren't getting enough greens otherwise. They love them too!
