I feel like I’m reading something targeted at a 10 year old. The concept of the inner pig is an interesting way to tackle a binge eating disorder, but I hated all of the pig dialogue in the book.
It is also extremely repetitive, and I understand that repetition helps get the message across, but this 24 chapter book could be condensed to about 5 chapters, as it’s just repeating the same stuff slightly reworded. It’s like a high school student writing an essay that has to be 5000 words, but they only really have 500 words of information to put forward.
I honestly hated reading this book, BUT I do think it’s effective. It’s given me a lot to think about and I do feel that it has given me the insight to be more in control of my eating and bingeing.
I would not buy another book written by this author, but the purpose of my reading it was to get some help with binge eating, and I think it has certainly achieved that (I hope so anyway).
If the purpose was to be entertaining, well…for me it wasn’t. It was a frustrating read due to the annoying Pig dialogue on almost every page and...

Skandi22: I ordered the free Kindle version of this book and was extremely skeptical of whether it would be worth the time to read. I am so glad I did! At first the ideas seemed ridiculous and far too simple to work. Why is it that so many of us distrust things that are simple? This book has helped me regain a feeling sanity around many trigger foods. Amazing. I love that the food rules I chose to follow are 100% my own and work for my life. Never Binge Again helps clear so much of the confusion around food without promoting any kind of diet philosophy. It simply helps you recognise what does and does not work for you and helps you to do what YOU really want to do. Very, very fun and empowering book.

Dominique Castro: I found the book super useful and eye-opening in where I've struggled before.
I would advise you to read a sample first to see if the tone of the book is something that you will be able to handle because it is absolutely not going to work for everybody.

Lenna: This book was a game changer. I've been a binge eater for as long as I can remember. In recent years I would say I've controlled my binging by controlling my environment. I still have cravings to overeat but full on binges are a thing of the past (except very occasionally) . The way this book describes the 'Pig' as a separate entity was something I had come to in a different way myself already. I had identified an addiction within myself and been able to witness it as a completely separate part (using IFS and psychedelic therapy). My addiction resembled Gollum from LOTR, crouching there in a dark cave waiting for me to become vulnerable so it could suck me in. This was my 'Pig'. Although I thought I had him under control all I had really done was avoid him by avoiding triggers; he was as alive as ever. What I love about this concept is that is removes all of the self-judgment (and let's be honest self-hate) that is associated with binge eating. Knowing that this is just a survival mechanism gone awry brings awareness to the reason we binge (it's with noting I had already done a lot of therapeutic work around my childhood and the original reason I developed this relationship with...

Joni: UPDATE AFTER ALMOST 3 YEARS:
So I'm reading negative reviews on here and getting sad because I, myself, take negative reviews into serious consideration when looking on Amazon. And the thought that these reviews might keep a desperate binge eater from finding help bothers me.
Then I noticed a common thread in the negative reviews. They aren't from people who tried what Dr livingston is suggesting. They are from people who read or started to read the book, didn't like the message because of his wording, and dismissed the whole concept without trying it.
But think about this.
Presumably, these are binge eaters or why would they have even tried to read a book like this. They download the book, start to read it, notice that it's different than all the other concepts they've learned about binge eating through their many years of searching, and dismiss it because it doesn't mesh with everything else they've read about loving yourself thin, etc. It doesn't jive with all of the other concepts they have in their heads about binge eating.
However, the reason they downloaded the book is because they are still binge eating and looking for answers.

Pat: The content of this book is very good and relevant for our times. Coddling and tolerating our gluttonous ways isn’t working. As a society, we are fatter than ever. This book was a helpful resource to me on my journey to better health and fitness. I’ve lost some weight and reframed my eating habits by applying the concepts in the book.
Anyone who has taken up a serious study of the deadly sin of gluttony will make the connection between fighting “the flesh” and entity the author calls “the pig”. This book is basically tells you how to overcome gluttony without bringing religion into it. This book is not a cure-all. For me, it takes prayer, study, constant vigilance, and a lot of meal planning and effort to stay on track. In our modern society, food is literally pushed in our faces 24/7. Temptations are dangled before our eyes at every turn. But Grace also abounds.
Some reviewers were offended by the pig references in this book. It’s noteworthy than the historical symbol for gluttony happens to be a disgusting, ravenous pig with a luxurious feast set before it. Anyone who expects to overcome any type of disordered eating should undertake a study of the...
