Amazon Customer: For years I have looked with a cookbook on Indian cooking that I felt connected to. Mainly, I had purchased the cookbooks of Madhur Jaffrey. Different flavor profiles, different techniques. On top of that, many members of my family were uninterested or unwilling to try Indian dishes. I was just not comfortable cooking their dishes.
All that changed when I saw the Dishroom cookbook. I was familiar with the story behind the restaurant. Also, my youngest son had eaten at the restaurant several times and said the food was wonderful. Based upon this knowledge, I purchased the cookbook. I'm very glad I did. It is the first cookbook on Indian cuisine that I felt a connection to.
Not only did it contain a number of very good recipes, but it did a good job explaining the country's food culture. It went one step further and arranged the recipes in the order they would be appropriately served throughout the day. To me this was very helpful. It gave me a better understanding of how Indian meals are structured. For me, knowing this structure is important.
If you are the least bit interested in Indian cooking, I would strongly recommend this book.

fletch: After visiting Dishoom a couple times while in the UK, we were so excited to learn there was a cookbook as well. Very sturdy book, great recipes, nice photos and information. Highly recommend.
