Doc fmch: It is small and looks nice but the bass is weak. It may work with small PC speakers but certainly not with bookshelf speakers. It is too weak to keep up with anything more than small PC speakers. It does not have auto power off. A little bit power and auto power on/off would have made it a great subwoofer.

Jeff Smith: Depending your expectations. I bought 2 of these and threw them under a sectional.
I had a Soundbar tied with my receiver and apparently the little 4 inch sub in a box sounded deeper than both of these subs under the sectional. Even with the low pass frequency properly adjusted, as well turned all the way down to the lowest Hz... I would consider this a budget sub and tucked away in a corner, not in plain view or dead center of the room or dead center of a wall. LFE does work because I use 2 of these subs on 1 LFE channel with an RCA splitter cable. These are what I would call "corner subs" or "anti social subs".
Anti social meaning away from everything but all wall in a corner. lol

James: A bit too large for my desktop application but narrow enough and satisfactory with proper positioning and adjustment. The port produces a nice punch volume and frequency knobs work well and unit works nicely with my low cost book shelf system.

dto1701: I have a Marantz amp with 4 surround speakers and a centre in my office hooked up to my Mac and didn't need or have the space for the kind of huge subwoofer that I have on my main system in my living room. I looked around for a small compact subwoofer at a reasonable price and eventually found this one. It isn't very elegant looking and the controls on the back could be better but it is hidden under a desk so looks are not that important. Also a bit disappointed that although it came with analogue coax to 3.5 mini jack cable it didn't come with a subwoofer cable which I had to buy separately and it was only fitted with a US plug so again had to buy a US to UK adapter plug. Having said all that - once hooked up it has made a massive improvement to the overall sound for listening to music when I'm working and watching movies on my Mac. So if you are buying for an office or small room (eg kids bedroom for gaming) or apartment where you don't really want to be creating vibrations through the floor to the neighbours ceiling below - it is perfect!!
