Cygolite Metro Plus 800 Lumen Bicycle Headlight for Enhanced Visibility and Safety

Mike says...: Purchased the 1100 lumen version. Having owned 2 older Expillion series that still work well after about 10 years, I needed a newer light with longer battery life. I believe this light hits the sweet-spot for long life and very good brightness. As a side benefit, the light is about 20 grams lighter than the old versions I have which believe it or not makes a noticeable difference when wearing it on the helmet. This is due to the manufacturer switching to a plastic case which I am ok with as long as it holds up as well. (time will tell) Where it saved me was that I was able to charge the light while using it on the last leg of a long bike-packing event. You can't put a dollar value on the ability to see and safely make it down rugged single-track in the dark!

Den 32671: I've been using Cygolites for well over a decade now and this one doesn't disappoint. I have three of these for myself and my family. I find this level of brightness to be perfect for riding around in the city at night, even though I live in a rural city that isn't into the whole "street light" thing. It's reliable, functional, and worth every cent.

La calidad del cuerpo es muy buena, similar a la de una buena lámpara China de aprox 20-25 USD pero la montura, es muy superior en calidad.
La luz que emitida es más del doble de un buena lámpara China, justifica el precio de Aprox 65USD

Ojo: para activarla debes dejar presionado 6 seg el botón de encendido.

Michael Sanders: I upgraded from a previous Cygolite that was actually very nice, to the Metro because of mounting. I press the on button and hold it for 2 seconds which puts it into a lower light blinking mode. Still, this light is so bright, I see on coming bikers holding their hands up to block the light. I ride for 3 hours average and I charge my light every 4th ride. I like the hard mounting as well. I'm not a big fan of the rubber band. So I do highly recommend this product.

j.dominguezj.dominguez: This light was exactly what I needed for my commute home at twilight or in the rain. I attached it to my Brompton with a GoPro bracket and CatEye adapter. It lasts for several weeks between recharges and lights up the road. It's easy to install, easy to use, and easy to recharge. I liked it so much a bought a second one for my spouse's bike. One tiny gripe that doesn't impact my review -- the charger is micro USB, not USB C, so I have to have a cable just for charging this one and can't use the other ones I have for the rest of my devices. Since I expect this to last for several years, maybe when I replace it the manufacturers will have upgraded the charging port to a more up-to-date standard.

Peyton L.: I LOVE this light. It's bright, lightweight, easy to remove, has great battery life, and it truly has a mode for every imaginable situation. It would be a slam-dunk 5-stars from me if it weren't for the fact that it charges over micro-USB, a fact which I believe to be inexcusable for any product sold in 2023. Given that USB-C has been out for nearly a decade now, and is now the standard for nearly all consumer electronics, it's frustrating that this light is the only device I regularly use, along with my Cygolite tail light, that charges over micro USB. This light gets *so close*, but its dated charging standard holds it just short of the mark.

Brian MBrian M: For late night casual rides on Toronto Canada streets with poor lighting The CYGOLITE Metro Plus– 800 is more than bright enough even on low power, The day time flashing light really gets attention even on sunny days. At night on low power street signs reflect the light more than two city blocks away . Ridding casually through an unlit park pathway low power still enough but 800 lumen is as bright as you will ever need. I found 800 lumen on my neighborhood streets at night to be too bright and shines in peoples home windows, disturbing people is not my thing so low power gives perfect lightning and lights the road curb to curb just nicely. I hope that battery lasts for year using lower power should put less strain on the battery the slow charging is also good to prolong battery life. The case of the light feels solid and well made and the attachment clamp works better than the rubber straps on some lights that eventually brake off. The light easily slides on and off the clamp for charging, well designed. I would buy from CYGOLITE again and the same 800 lumen version.
Nice this product is assembled in North America I would hope all the components are also made here too.

B.: Bought four of these over the last few years and they’re very bright, and which are easy to charge and also very easy to set up on either the bike or a helmet.

I usually bring two lights though on any ride that last more than 40 minutes because the batteries at full charge never make it to the duration clean by the manufacturer. This is consistent across all four of the lights that I’ve had at various output levels. My brightest light is 950 lm and it lasts only 40-50 minutes.

Also I’ve had two of these lights now die completely outside of Warranty. About 2 years in each case. There’s no way to change the battery so they go in the garbage. I don’t like to buy stuff which can’t be recycled or repurposed or fixed and the only reason I do so with these is that they are cheaper than alternatives and when they’re working they’re great lights. Two of them together riding on forest trails lights everything up nicely so I can see where I’m going and it seems to work well in any temperature. But I wish the manufacture would deal with this battery issue and make it possible to replace the batteries after they stop holding charge.
