Chaos & Coffee: During the colder months I bake, mostly pies. I learned to make our crust with lard. Yep, I'm that old. I can't imagine making a pie crust with some Crisco mixed in by hand. These butter style sticks are so nice to have on hand and take up just a scant few inches in my pantry versus that big honking can.
I know you can fry chicken and all kinds of other good things but I've never done that with Crisco. It's strictly for pies. My mom does use these for biscuits when she feels like making them. I leave that to her, mine are only ever good for door stops. Hey, we can't be good at everything.
