Paid 200 and expect it to be good for the price. Should have listened to the reviews.

Tobin McCartney: My sister's seniors home does not allow Air conditioners. This unit works a bit. It holds a lot of water. but not enough. There should be 5 ice packs, not only 2. The remote works well. Not a total waste of money. It is better than nothing.

G. McMahon: I had to wait for almost a month to get this cooler. It finally arrived and the ice box containers were virtually impossible to open. The ice doesn't last very long. As it is probably too humid on the BC west coast, the cooler just made everything more damp in my opinion. I wish that the water compartment could be removed to allow for a thorough cleaning. It is impossible to add ice to the water compartment unless you have crushed ice. Poor instructions too. I contacted Costway for a more detailed booklet of instructions but was advised the company doesn't have any. If you Google the cooler, there seem to be much better instructions online.
Overall, I was happy to finally purchase a new air conditioner instead

Anish Gupta: More like a humidifier or a water cooler, Cools well but not for the room, Buy if you're going to use it and place it next to you other wise it's useless it won't cool the whole room I have a small room and unless I placed it next to me still couldn't sleep well. Noise levels are ok but they are subject to change for every individual. But investing in a portable A/C is a much better option.

Hao: The size and weight is pretty good and easy to move around. The cooling function is rather poor and the air coming out, even with the ice pack, is not really that cool. Doesn’t cool the room, only a little breeze in front of the fan. I really looked forward to this compared to a portable a/c because it doesn’t need a hose out of the window. Plus it is supposed to humidify the room due to water evaporation. Pretty disappointed considering how much I paid for this.

Emery Davis: Positives: No real assembly. Just fill with water, plug in, and use. I topped it off once for an eight hour day just to be on the safe side, but it never came close to running out of water. Works very well in small rooms. I used it in Arizona in the summer, and in my small home office I was very comfortable.
Negatives: We have very hard water, so calcium builds up quickly. The water tank can be emptied, but it isn't removable, so you can't fully clean it or inspect it to see if you've missed anything. The holes in the top got blocked with calcium after a couple weeks and started spraying water rather than cold air. Covering the holes with a vinegar soaked cloth overnight helped a lot. It worked all summer but with increasingly less efficiency, spitting out water and wetting the floor. Good for a summer for a small room even in Arizona. Better if you don't have hard water or don't mind a daily vinegar cleaning. If I had to do it over again, I would still buy it but start with the vinegar soak on Night 1 and not allow the calcium to build up at all because none of the components can be removed for a thorough cleaning. The tank is too big to spend money on just purified water...

Amazon Customer: I bought this knowing that the heat is coming soon. I live in Northern California and everybody online was telling me to get a swamp cooler.
It was easy to put the wheels on out of the box and get it ready to use but it actually makes my house much hotter than if I didn’t use it at all. It’s like a tropical jungle in my house when it’s running. It’s humid and hot.
I am sending it back because it does not cool my house down at all!

Amazon user: PROs
– We are getting high 80s or 90s °F in dry California and it can help to cool down a baby at night or A SINGLE home office PERSON afternoon IF (AND ONLY IF) combined with a stronger fan and putting both close to the lucky person. I also use an ice pack (that came with it) and cold water with ice cubes in it to maximize the single person cooling effect.
– This doesn't use much electricity as compared to real AC units.
– moving it when full of water is not easy nor perfect, but definitely can be done on flat surfaces and short distances.
CONs
– It does add some preparation work and the risk of spilling water close to the Electrical outlet when refilling it. Be careful!
– Checking the water level in the dark is not easy as there is no light indicator. Actually the position of the LEDs on the panel are confusing as they're on the opposite side of their respective buttons.
– The ice packs are useful, although one is swallowing after 2 weeks of use.
COMPARISON
– Compared to the small table air coolers for less than $50, I would rather have this one than 2 of those as they can only cool down your hands when being tested. I got one...

MG: It blows cold air when using the ice boxes provided. I keep one in the freezer, and rotate them every 5 hours or so. Enough time to refreeze. I also put slushy water in the tank to help.
Even with all that, it’s still hard to keep our upstairs 10x12 bedroom cool all day, but it’s still much cooler than without it.
Only complaint are the instructions. Not only are they completely unclear, but they aren’t even for this mode. I have no idea what the “Anion” button does, and there is only a on/off cool setting- not three levels like the instructions suggest. Luckily it’s pretty easy to use anyway.
Even on high, it’s very quiet and soothing.
Others have suggested it leaks... haven’t had any leaks at all, and we have been running it non-stop for a week straight... haven’t turned it off even once, and it functions perfectly.
You can feel the temp difference as soon as I add the fresh ice box to the top tank too.
Definitely worth the buy.
Update: After nearly three months, it died. The power still works and water flows on the cool setting, but the fan stopped spinning. Contacting the seller for any possible warranty or...

Creole Queen: I live in CA but in the mountains. The heat is worse at night than during the day. I’m not paying to run my central AC all day. This portable AC (although it gets humid at times) has saved me at night. I can’t sleep if I’m hot. I add ice to the water container which keeps the water cold longer. I sleep like a baby. I’ve notice that my rabbit comes and posts right under the AC too. The speeds are great, the fan swings, it has an ANION feature which helps overall. You can use the swamp feature or simply use it as a large personal fan. Definitely worth the purchase. I wanted another one for the living room but now they are all sold out. I’ll wait… but I will be getting another one!
