Judi Easley for a thoughtful reveal: Not every book is a 5 star, but the whole series is worth it. The series is about the lives and loves ❤️ of the Ross clan in Scotland before things were completely settled. So there was a lot of to-an-fro between castles and villages to keep people in line and keep people protected. This was the time of arranged marriages for forming alliances to combine clans for protection against the Norse or unallied clans. The time of men big enough to handle a sword and a war horse with ease and handsome enough to make the ladies swoon.
The Ross clan was, of course, made up of big, handsome men who were the best at what they did. They are the heroes, after all. Their focus is family first, then their people. The old laird has died, and no one misses him. He was cruel. The only good thing he ever did was marry the right women and breed good children on them. Now it is the young laird's turn to lead the clan, and all his brothers, his sister, and sisters-in-law support him completely. Each brother and sister has a book, and then it goes into other relatives. Each book is a love story and yet different enough that I wasn't bored reading the whole series over the course of a couple of...

Kindle Customer: An interesting easy read set in the highlands & about the Ross Clan. It is mainly about the 2nd son & we are given his background as a captive for 10 years and how it affects his everyday life and loves. There are still unanswered questions about how & why he was captured but maybe that is resolved later in the series. It's well worth a read.

Kindle Customer: I enjoyed reading Duncan and Beatrice story. She is a kind soul to his tormented soul. All the characters are well written. Can't wait to see how the rest of the brothers fare and of course can't forget Ella!

Sam C.: This is an interesting and enjoyable series. It’s unfortunate that the author’s grasp of punctuation makes reading less enjoyable. My eyes and mind are brought to a halt multiple times per page due to her awful punctuation placement. Hopefully it improves.

Amazon Customer: Beatrice wants to stay near her sister, but ends up saying that Duncan is courting her as a way to stay longer. Then she ends up having to marry Duncan, who has terrible scars all over his body from when he was mistreated when he was younger.
Together, they navigate marriage & learn to live together. She helps him in how she seems the real him, & how she appreciates him, despite his scars.
The book cover doesn't fit what we know about Duncan at all.
This was a cute, short HEA story to read.

Jill G: This is a beautiful story of a broken man and a woman who totally understands him and sees past all his scars. Beautifully written and due to the nature of how he came about the scars may be upsetting for some but was a story I couldn’t put down. They had their ups and downs and it was quite frustrating when Beatrice would not forgive Duncan at first for not travelling with her to see her family although he had very good reason. I totally love this series and can’t wait for the next one
