Mrs M: The storyline was good to start with and the characters were interesting. However, it wasn't exciting enough for me and there was a lack of romance until near the end of the book. Although Ewan was a great archer I felt that it didn't feature enough in the story. Also, there were too many unanswered questions regarding the relationship between some of the secondary characters and both Ewan and Catriona.

The story was good enough for me to try another of this author's books though.

L. R. Shear: This last book in the Clan Ross series was wonderful, I did not want these adventures with these fabulous characters to end!
Ewan is extremely handsome, charming, muscular and a true warrior, but secretly he is a lost soul with a secret he cannot admit too.
Drawn to the beautiful Catriona Mackay, especially after her horrifyingly dreadful experience the year before, he feels not only protective of this fragile but enchanting woman, but he wants to marry her and take care of her, but after Catriona is told an untruth about Ewan their budding relationship stumbles and Ewan runs away while Catriona is left lost.
As problems continue, will they ever find their happy ever after, only if they both find their voices and speak up properly to one another, now is the time for truths not falsehoods in this beautifully emotional and passionate book, so cleverly and descriptively written by the extremely talented Hildie McQueen.
Do yourselves a favour and start at the beginning of the Clan Ross series, you will not be disappointed.

Mary G: Ms.McQueen has shown such depth in writing these character that they come to be real people, she also shows the hard times all clans faced through many years of grow but not always prosperity. It's one of the series that comes closest to telling it like it truely was in Scotland for centuries, as a person of Scottish decent on both sides of my family I would like to send her my warmest thanks for giving such an honest view of my ancestors through this series !

Lori Dykes: n emotional journey of two wounded souls who try to find their way to healing and love.

Catriona had been viscously attacked and could hardly stand being near any man. Yet it was different with Ewan. "Although she wished to flee each time he was nearby, she fought against it. Something about him called to her on a very basic level."

Ewan really wanted to avenge her but he had his secrets too. As the two slowly grow closer, it seems they may never come together... I could not wait to get to the end, although I just wanted it to continue! On to the next in the series~

NavyWave62: This was a tough story to read. Our h was brutally raped by many men - thankfully off page. Her story is the aftermath of dealing with that trauma. It’s taken her a long time to feel comfortable around men. Our H wins her trust and they form a friendship.

The H witnessed something awful and has left him scared on the inside, afraid to trust let alone love. Just when things are developing for the H/h someone ruins it by repeating something of the H. The h doesn’t handle it well, and their friendship ends. I had a problem with the h not confronting the H what she was told. Also, had problems with the H when she finally apologizes he shuns her, which lasts forever!

There is little on romance in this story until the end. We have a few lovemaking scenes, within marriage. Heat level 2 out of 5.

Somethings are mentioned and leaves you wondering how it worked out. 1. One had to do with the outcome of the villain. 2. When the H/h went their separate ways, a maid had the hots for the H and he has her stay in his room. Did they have sex, no mention of what if anything happened. 3. The h’s childhood friend goes back to the clan and just gives up on her? No mention...

C. S.: This story starts off with some tragic incidents.
We meet Ewan Ross a guard for the Fraser Clan who was found wounded after being attacked.
Ewan meets Catriona the healers helper who is trying to overcome her own horrific trauma.
This a complex story of two people and how they resolve their past lives so they can
join together and move towards happiness and love.
My feelings about this book are over the top and hard to explain.
The author writes about a very difficult subject with remarkable understanding.
I admire her taking this subject on and the characters are guided through
this wonderful story in a remarkable way. I felt like I was right there feeling
everything Catriona and Ewan were going through.
The author did beautiful bringing all of the emotions that one goes
through to heal after that kind of experience.
The romance was sweet, sad enough to have tears, sizzling and the intimate scenes
had me turning on the fan.
The last three chapters were awesome with other characters finding their HEA, and some
new situations to possible look forward to. Also a great rewarding epilogue.
An adult highland romance.
