Grandmalinnie: I bought this as it came up when I searched for high ratio shortening. Thanks to COVID my niece's wedding was moved outdoors and I was trying to find something to help keep the icing from melting in the desert heat. This was not that product. At room temperature it has the same consistency as butter, isn't as tasty as butter and is a lot more expensive than butter so I really don't know what the point of it is. Additionally the tub arrived covered in shortening since it melted in transit and the lid was not designed to contain liquid.

ThreeTortiesThreeTorties: I mix this shortening half and half with vegan butter to make buttercream frosting. This has a wonderfully smooth texture and it held up very well outside of the fridge. I had been using Spectrum Organics shortening but it gets weepy when it is outside of the fridge for more than a couple of hours - this stuff does not. No compromise on taste, no greasy texture.

I've enjoyed using the CK Products 77-326 for a few years, and I've never had a problem with it. I recently ordered and received a different product. I'm not sure why the Celebakes Cake & Icing Shortening was delivered rather than what I ordered. I much prefer the CK Products as it makes a sturdier icing.

In the past I had used a different brand for my frosting, but decided to try this one due to a shipping time crunch. It arrived on time in perfect condition. To my surprise, it made my buttercream frosting super smooth! The taste was spot on, and my piped borders held up beautifully. I was very happy with this purchase!

Callie Rogers: It is only fair to state, prior to reviewing this product, that I had actually intended to purchase "CK High-Ratio Icing Shortening" and purchased this by accident. That being said, this does state that it is an icing shortening and I did attempt to use it as such. My main issues with it: it has a weird texture right out of the tub (kind of like it has melted and then re-solidified, which made it whip a little weird - looked way too much like warm mayonnaise) and it has an odd flavor that takes A LOT of flavoring to cover up if you're making icing. It might be a five-star shortening for cake baking, but I personally used it to make icing, and I will not be purchasing it for that purpose again. Will definitely read the labels better next time and purchase the right product (and I will also not order 48 hours before I need said product - timing is key).
