AMZN_ShopperAMZN_Shopper: The media could not be loaded. Light is great, plenty bright enough for my nighttime rides in my residential area. I also got the fork mount adapter (sold separately) and like it much more now compared to mounting to handlebars. My only complaint is the battery life. I go for, on average, 45-60 minute rides and by the 2nd ride the low battery/charge indicator light is on so I have to remove it and charge it every other ride. Charging is fairly slow as well even using a fast charger. Otherwise, I really like it!

Check-Is-In-The-MailCheck-Is-In-The-Mail: CatEye AMPP800 is a great product. Good cosmetics, well-built, charges quickly. The hold-charge values it claims in its product literature is consistent with real-time operation. Simple to operate and relatively light in weight for the amount of illumination it delivers, but unfortunately every product has some weakness.
The unit on the left was purchased mid 2022 and just recently, the micro-usb port collapsed into the unit. The unit on the right is new and was promptly replaced by NetRush which provided excellent warranty service. The port may collapse if the USB cable is inadvertently forced into the socket upside down, following repeated attempts. In comparison, smartphones have similar micro-USB ports, but they're far sturdier and dummy proof when a user attempts to connect with the plug in the wrong configuration.
AMPP800 could benefit from better internal support behind the micro-USB port.
The end-users can mark the USB cable for correct configuration, to eliminate the possibility of damage. Even in the correct configuration, the USB plug requires some force to click into the port. In the wrong configuration, under the same pressure and repeated...

Jean-P T.: I also have a 1300 lumens and a 20 lumens light, both from Cateye.
And a 500 one from a less known brand on Amazon.
This 400 lumens one is good because you can be easily seen from the side but compared to the less known amazon brand, it does not seem much better so far.
- The 1000-1300 lumens is a must in my opinion for someone with an average speed of 30km/h, especially if you venture in bike paths that are in the forest or in complete darkness. Of course, you can ride a bike without any light, in theory, but it's a risk to hit something you don't see (or to be hit).
- I think 400-500 lumens is enough for a more recreational cyclist, below 25km/h, cycling mostly in urban areas, it's OK if you use your bike during the night from time to time but you spend hours a week riding during the night, I would go above 500 lumens.
- 20 lumens, this seems more like a light "to be seen" than to see anything clearly, I got one for my young kids, at least they won't blind anyone with it ...
