sandy k: I like this as I hate the smell of chlorine when I drink tap water. Only think is I have no clue on how to open it up and clean it!

Darryl Chapman: Be careful of the over fill protection mechanism! If too much water is inserted the overflow will spill down the handle onto what ever the jug is placed.

Poppy: This eight cup Brita carafe is beautiful and less clunky looking than my previous one. You can use the standard Brita filter for this one as well. I was a little hesitant to buy because of the reviews citing cracks on the bottom, but, so far so good. Perhaps some people found it too heavy once filled and may have put it down harshly on a hard surface repeatedly? I would highly recommend this size if you drink lots of water.

Arun Baheti: editing my review on 9/6.... after 4 months of use, noticed a couple of weeks ago that the thing is wet on the bottom all the time. Tried drying it. Thought maybe condensation. No, there has to be a pinhole leak in it. I wonder if the heavy weight means it gets a lot of pressure when being put down? given my prior lasted since 1994, I am a tad surprised. It is beyond the return window on amazon, so maybe I'll email Brita and see what they say. my advice is don't buy this specific model.

Great design, pours well, easy to fill. This replaced my ancient, original Brita back from 1994 (! yes, it lasted that long, finally developed a tiny crack that intermittently dripped out the bottom), so I admit I may be behind the curve.... this is a great replacement, nice design, fits in the fridge (taller vs wider) easily. One hand filling is great. The electronic filter counter is silly to me, they don't appear to make an analog Brita anymore so I'll just never turn it on I guess and that is solved. It is heavy, so that could be an issue for some. The inner compartment is a little off to remove for cleaning but I assume I'll get the hang of it or there is a little trick I have to figure...

C Edwards: This was a great solution for relatively quick filtration of our hard water. Sure, it takes up some counter space (I don't need it to chill in the fridge). However, it's just the right amount of water at a time for the coffee maker, humidifier overnight, and/or cooking needs (steaming, boiling, & soups) where I feel more comfortable with the water quality. AND I don't have to worry about leaks with an under-counter filtration system. The cost is very competitive, lead and chlorine are filtered out, and the water tastes great. I also love the look of this pitcher style! The other good thing about Brita is that we can reasonably expect to easily find filter replacements anywhere at anytime--in other words: the replacement filter source for this pitcher is reliable. The down-side to this particular pitcher design is that water can get into the hollow stem of the handle while you are filling the pre-filtration reservoir from above (when I'm sloppy or over-fill it). . . there is a small open seam at the bottom of the handle which allows this "accident" to quickly drain. Just let it do that before you place it on the counter.

yomaven: As a clean water freak, and after years of bottled water delivery, I no longer wished to be complacent about my monthly spending for this necessity. The time had come for me to look again at the alternatives that are available for my home.

Come to find there were some new players in this market and that design was now an element to be considered. Though Brita has been synonymous for me with clean drinking water for (can it be true?) at least some 25 years, my recollections of the traditionally unwieldy, sterile looking pitchers left me somewhat less excited at the prospect of a change. Though I poured over these new options at several local retailers, I still kept walking away undecided and uninspired.

Then I came across Brita's good looking Marina design on Amazon and just had a feeling. It arrived yesterday and after a quick washing by hand of the pitcher and a 15 minute soak of the filter, it was ready for its maiden use... boy am I happy with it! Negatives? None to speak of. I recognize that it's a pitcher, so I need to get the water actually into it before it can be cleaned and then poured and that if I fling it about haphazardly there may be some resulting...
