Lisa: I was not expecting the emotional butt whooping I got. This book is amazing. Things I thought I was over from my childhood, I was definitely not.
I do feel like a different person. I have highly recommended this book to a lot of my friends. I give them the warning that they should probably have a therapist to work through the book with. This book really makes you think & then rethink (in an objective way) your life all over again.
This book has been incredibly helpful. Definitely recommend.

Amazon Customer: With so much drivel on relationships and narcissism this book gives you a real path out by exploring what it is that makes us stay in bad relationships.

Anjila Qureshi: The book has been nothing short of a life changing journey for me. There is so much that it uncovers and brings to the surface for the understanding of the readers.
It explains the doubts that one might possess and gives the much needed validation. Just the recipe for healing!♥️

Christie S.: Recommendation from my therapist, and she was definitely right! This book helped me see my trauma, my family/friend/intimate relationships, and myself in a whole new way. Not only did it help me heal but it helped me realize how much trauma I really did suffer from. It is an amazing read and guide!

SkylarSkylar: I have ready many trauma therapy books, and two things stand out about this one: 1) The author is not a trauma therapy counsellor, but an addictions (specifically a sex addictions) specialist. At times this is quite interesting because he talks about how the same physiological experience of being addicted to drugs can apply to an abusive relationship -- you can be addicted to a relationship, bonded but not actually in love. 2) There are quite a lot of exercises in this book, especially in the second half. If you just want a book to read, then go elsewhere, but if you want to do lots of soul-searching exercises (it's like 1/3 of the book), then this is a decent option. One I particularly liked was to write out all the people who had betrayed you/lied to you/exploited you in your life, and write out the lies they used to do so (did they appeal to your moral sense? Did they make you feel obligated? Were they in a position of power over you and scared you?). The longest was to graphically depict in one large piece of paper all of the biggest/worst experiences of your life, from childhood to now, while also reflecting on similarities and the roles your parents/guardians initially set...

Anna: I read several books on trauma recovery and all gave me some more clarity but this one went beyond my wildest expectations. I had many a-ha moments. I understand myself and what happened much more clearly and in depth. I felt very empowered by reading this book. I think the authors have done a fantastic job in structuring this book in such an orderly, supportive, clear way. I will re-read it several times. The exercises are very helpful too and make this book practical to apply right away into your life. I am very grateful, pleased and happy for this magnificent work. If you have endured some kind of trauma in relationships, this book will actually be more than helpful. The style flows easily and the heavy contents are delivered with simplicity. I had a series of revelations that will support me right now at my turning point of coming out of a long, dark tunnel. Also, it helps you on many levels. Instead of reading several books on different parts of the trauma experience, reading this one was like an in-depth crash course on the many facets of trauma bonds. What an amazing book! Thank you.
