Lynn: I sat on this book for a while, because I did not finish the last part about helping other people declutter. My feelings are that my friends with clutter can worry about their own closets and junk rooms.

Dana White did come up with a good common sense blueprint for decluttering that I liked. Thinking of my space as a container, there is a limit to how much can fit in each section of the container and my ability to find what I want if everything is crammed together. That’s actually very simplified, but you get the gist of it with detailed sections added on.

I was hoping for humor, because I find our inability get rid of anything kind of funny, but I suppose other “collectors” might not. As a baby boomer we feel guilty about waste and we’re certain we will need something as soon as we get rid of it, forgetting that we are not in the same position our parents and grandparents were in.

All in all, it was a helpful book, and I think it was a solid four stars of common sense.

GrannyB: I have been watching Dana White on YouTube and find her advice very motivating. As a senior I have come to the mind set that I just want all the clutter gone. I find minimalism very appealing but don't know how to get there. I have found motivation and workable steps in Dana's books. I also have her other book "How To Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind".

Andy Pandy: A good book for anyone into decluttering.

Soyturista: Highly recommended if you have serious problems with clutter. It definitely helps that the book is written by someone who doesn't like decluttering. Really friendly and unthreatening read, and I've started making changes immediately.

Liz: I've been watching Danas videos on youtube and finally bought one of her books!
Her ways of conquering mess and clutter have really helped me to start getting our homes mess under control.
I haven't read the book yet but have been so looking forward to it!
Her steps to decluttering that she showed in one of her videos have given me a place to start every morning.
With five kids, our house is always a mess, like an old man told me once "Raising kids is like shoveling in a snowstorm"
I hope with the guidance of this book that i will be able to eliminate the clutter that has rendered so many rooms in our house unusable so we can have space to live in our home.

My book arrived in less than perfect condition but instead of returning it I'll keep it and read it.
The package had some kind of oil on it that got the top corner of the book oily.
I was going to request a replacement until my 17 year old asked if I'm able to see the words. He said if the book can fill its purpose then theres nothing wrong with it.
Such wise words from my young man, i must be doing something right. Lol

H S: A lighthearted yet eminently practical book that encourages decluttering in the time available, be that as little as a few minutes.
The Authors way of deciding what should stay and what can go is helpful - it takes a lot of the heartache out of decluttering.

LarissaQ: Dana tackled the dreaded truths of decluttering by stating them, outright. For example "Your house is as big as it is."

I found her style to be fun and entertaining without sidestepping anything. I particularly liked the chapter about dreams. This was the first time I had an organising or decluttering book that ACTUALLY HELPED you work out what to keep and what to get rid of in this area.

A warning for those who are looking for a big complicated todo list, this isn't that. It's honest, it's supportive and it's repetitive. It is meant to be repetitive so her concepts are learned, remembered and applied.

Joanna J: This is a short, highly readable guide to decluttering from someone who’s used their personal experiences to promote a fairly simple approach to the perennial challenge of having Too Much Stuff. I saw it in a promotional email (sorry can’t remember which) and for once the low price advertised did actually apply here in NZ, and figured that for just over a dollar, if I gained a couple of new ideas to tackle my problem areas, it would be worth it.

Broken down into sensible sections and encouraging the reader to start with the easy areas, this takes simple rules and repeats them for every room. The repetition could’ve been annoying but she candidly explains that it’s the main point of the strategy - by the end you remember the guiding principles which you can then apply to pretty much everything. In a nutshell - get rid of rubbish, then put things in the place you would look for them first. If you can’t do this, decide whether, in the event of needing this in the future, you’d remember you had it, if you wouldn’t, get rid of it. (This is the bit I struggled with.)

Then designate “containers” for each type of item, and keep only what you have space for,...
