K. J. Thompson: I purchased a Bonavita coffee maker about 2 years ago after we stayed with our son and used his. It makes great coffee, is easy to use, and brews rapidly. Even pre-ground coffee tastes fresh! Because it has an insulated carafe, the coffee doesn't cook after brewing but stays fresh. The carafe is not hard to clean because the mouth is wide enough to insert a dishcloth. To rinse, just shake water in it to reach under the rim. I've seen complaints about not being able to use the carafe to pour water into the pot. Why must one use the carafe? This is the best coffee maker we've had and we have gone through several over the years.

JuggernautJuggernaut: The media could not be loaded.  Let me begin by stating that Bonivita undeniably impacts the flavor of the coffee, and I have consistently enjoyed excellent coffee from this machine! However this is now my second Bonavita, (my first failed just after one year - company replaced) and now the replacement Bonivita, (after three years) is having intermittent issues where it will stop brewing mid cycle. I decided to upgrade to a Technivorm Moccamaster with Thermal Carafe here on Amazon. Arguably, had I purchased the Technivorm from day one, I would have actually saved money (the cost of the Bonivita) since I wouldn't now be buying a replacement after 4 years. In fact, the Technivorm would still be under warranty (Technivorm warranty is 5 years!!!).

While I would prefer to give Bonivita a 5-star rating I simply can't given its reliability history (two units in 4 years), I noticed many other reviewers who have experienced the same. Additionally, I have noticed heat-induced cracks around the water reservoir, although these cracks are merely cosmetic and do not affect the functionality (i.e., no leakage). Luckily, I've had no issues with the thermal carafe.

B. Daymond: Machine smart and looked great in kitchen. Very easy to use then taste...most disappointing despite using correct grinder. Impossible to empty flask, liquid ie coffee gets stuck under rim. Probably rinsed 6 times and then to return had finish with numerous kitchen towels. The rim also oozed coffee down outside. Returned after one four cup use....I should add did not retain heat over 3hrs period.

Annette Ross: We love the coffee machine but now cracked the second glass carafe and cannot find a replacement. Looking for the Stainless Steel replacement carafe and everything is out of stock as well as the glass carafe.

The Dawg: Bottom Line Up Front:

Buy IF: You should buy this if around $150 bucks is the most you are willing to pay for a coffee maker. You want a solid brewer that meets or comes very close to the specialty coffee association standards. You are ok with a few sacrifices (timer, capacity, carafe and the basket design).

Do Not Buy IF: You need more than 40oz of coffee capacity, want a timer, would like a little more convenience.

I purchased this as a gift for a family member. I ultimately purchased for myself the Breville Precision Brewer and would recommend it over this product even at twice the price. For me, the 2 best drip-style brewers are the Technivorm Mocha Master (recommended if you want simple on/off function and 40oz capacity) or the Breville Precision Brewer (want an autostart timer, different or customizable brew settings, and a larger 60oz capacity). Both of these models have clear advantages over the Bonavita BV1900TS, but those advantages come at nearly double the price. I personally think the difference in price is worth spending on a product that you will use daily (I make 1-2 pots a day). Again, I realize that may be a luxury to many or they may not use...

CalmFourSome: I've had this coffee maker for months now.

Initially, I was pretty happy with it. It was very straightforward to use and I like the fact it also came packaged with a good supply of starter filters.

The learning curve was quite quick and simple, but there a few tips to keep in mind. If you are like me, one of the main reasons for considering this unit was the fact it was recognized by the Specialty Coffee Association (https://sca.coffee/) as a "SCA Certified Home Brewer".

The SCA Certified Home Brewer program was "developed by coffee science experts and professional coffee tasters, this program reviews brewers designed for in-home use to determine if they meet the rigorous requirements of brewed coffee quality as determined by the SCA. These requirements are based on decades of industry knowledge and research by the Coffee Brewing Center. All SCA Certified Brewers have met these requirements, which are based on proper water temperature, brewing time, and ability to brew within the SCA Golden Cup recommendations. If a brewer passes all of the tests as described below and conducted by the SCA, that brewer will be recognized as an exemplary home brewer and join...

E. Connell: I will hopefully educate some of you into a good coffee maker, through my research and trials. I am just your average consumer looking for the best cup of coffee I can find, without having to go to a specialty store such as Starbucks. I usually don’t write to many reviews but this coffee maker tops them all. I have purchased and have used many coffee makers over time, but I think I found the one. I have used and owned various coffee makers. Here is the list of what I have personally used and tested. I use filtered water through a Pur Led 11 Cup Pitcher and a Capresso 560.04 Inifinity Conical Burr Grinder. With that out of the way, we are off to look at each coffee maker.

Technivorm Moccamaster KBT 741
Let’s start out with most expensive coffee maker I have purchased to date. While this is the most sturdy and well-built coffee make I have ever used, and will no doubt last the test of time, it lacked a few options I would like to see. Such as a pre soak feature to allow the fresh coffee grounds to bloom prior to finishing the brewing cycle. I found myself standing by the brewer, with the brew basket shut off, letting it fill with a cup or so of hot water then stirring...
