I have my mouse, wireless router, and cooling fan connected to the mini hub to free up two of my ports for my portable hard drive.

Dan: Two weeks in. No problems detected. Working fine.
Some usb ports have a hard time fitting some of my usbs, because of the fit. But that's only for some particular usbs. For example, my wireless mouse adapter has a hard time fitting into this one port, but my keyboard usb has no problem fitting in at all. It's a little queer, since my mouse port has no problems fitting into other usb ports, such as my other laptops or computers.

Alex: As always, Belkin does not disapoint. It is compact, the short wire keeps it usably close, and takes up little room in strage or on a mobile workspace. If you intend to use it for say a desktop from a tower under the desk, you may want an extension, or a hub with a longer cable. The layout of the ports is handy for larger USB devices such as 3G/4G receivers, however the rest of the time 4 in a row would be more efficient use of space. Nevertheless, this is a resilient little piece of hardware I've dragged across North America for nearly a year and shows no signs of wear.

markmai86: The quality is ok, but then you can really use these things for keyboards and mouse, don't try using it for plugging many usb keys or hard drives because the transfert rate is divided by the number or device you can plug in there.
Overall good for keyboards and mice.

Lawrence H. Bulk: This Belkin USB 2.0 4-Port Ultra-Mini Hub (F5U407) is not perfect (what is?) but, especially at its price, it offers excellent performance and value.
My situation is somewhat unique.
I have an OPPO BDP-93 Universal Network 3D Blu-ray Disc Player which has two USB 2.0 ports, one on the front of the unit and one on the rear. The rear port is used primarily for connection of the Wi-fi antenna (powered via the USB port), necessary if you are, as I am, using Wi-fi for the Oppo's Internet connection. The front connection is primarily for external hard drives used when operating the Oppo as a media center (which is how I use the Oppo most of the time).
But I wanted to plug a Western Digital My Book for Mac 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive which has its own AC power supply into the rear USB port and leave it there permanently along with the Wi-fi antenna (leaving the front port available for other drives) so I bought this little hub.
With both items connected, the hub works perfectly and both of the devices function normally.
Now in at least one previous review, I had read that USB 3.0 devices do not work with...

T. F.: When looking for a USB hub, I wanted something that would provide a decent number of ports (at least 3) so it would add a reasonable amount of ports while making up for the one it uses. I wanted one that would be light, portable, sturdy, computer-powered, and most importantly, small. This hub fits that category perfectly.
For starters, each port is on a different face of the square-shaped device, so if you have devices with larger USB plugs, you don't have to worry about not having enough space to plug them all in at once (like hubs with side-by-side ports would). The cord from the hub to its plug is pretty short, maybe about 3 or 4 inches long, so it may be a big deal to someone with a desktop who has their tower located a fair distance away from where they sit; on the other hand, it is the perfect length for laptop users. It is powered via the computer's USB port, not externally. It feels pretty sturdy with no loose parts visible or internal (if shaken slightly) and weighs so little that it is almost unnoticeable. There is a red light on it below the name "BELKIN" that lights up when it is plugged in; there is no way to turn it off, so it may be a slight nuisance to some, but...

Reprahe: This works well. Just plug it in and insert and USB devices needed. It has four USB slots with good spacing. I tried different devices (portable CD/DVD device, cell phone charger, etc.) and they all worked correctly. Good price and is easy to use.
