Before then, it was durable and bright and well worth the price. I ordered a new one and plan to be more diligent cleaning the little nooks and crannies this time around.

Audiblebie: I use this light for my 20 gallon long, and my plants are loving it! It’s so much cheaper than the other options on the market, yet the light is so bright.
If anyone is buying a more expensive light for its spectrum, do know that plants do not care for it. The hue of the light only matters if you prefer to have a tank with a more warmer feel to it.
Anyways, it gives enough light off that it reaches the bottom without going into high light territory. If you wanted a higher light option, I would recommend the BeamsWork DA light. It has 5 LEDs per row instead of 3 like this one has. I use the DA on my 29 gallon because of its height.
I have this light on a timer, and it is on for 7 hours a day. I don’t get too much algae, and even if it was a problem I’m pretty sure my Amano shrimp would enjoy snacking on it, as well as my red cherry shrimp.
I’ve been using this light for the past year and it hasn’t given me any problems, would recommend to anyone wanting a cheap light for their planted tank.

RichRich: I bought two 30" units for my 130gallon tank (68"L x 17"W x 27.5"H). They arrived well packaged. Easy installation, although the power cords it came with were quite short. I had to extend the leads about 3-4ft to reach up from the power strip to the lights considering the slightly-than-normal taller tank. Not sure why it didnt come with the sealed threaded plugs considering they are timer ready.
The housing is slightly arched upwards for some reason, but it doesnt bother me. I'm guessing it's to prevent sag over time, but i don't see that happening on the shorter units. It is plastic but one cannot be choosy considering the price. The extending legs are coated metal.
The lighting itself is quite powerful as it reaches the lower plants. The colors aren't as "natural light" as I thought they'd be but they do the job and bring out the hidden colors of the fish I've never seen before. The blue night setting is quite blue and a little stronger than I'd like. I personally dont care much for it but it works. I have yet to test the effectiveness for plant growth so time will tell.
My previous lighting setup, the Fluval Aqua Sky worked great, but for a much lesser...

JAZR: ** UPDATE ** I ended up a orb water sprite In the tank. A low light plant. It is done amazing in the tank. So keep to taller growinglow light plants and all should be good. The light still works great. I love the timer. Just know you can only grow low light plants with it. If you are good with this - this would be perfect for you!
The light itself works great and the timer that you can buy separately makes it function like a breeze. However, it does not grow even low low light plants. I have a 20 gallon Long so it is only 13 inches hight and I cannot get plants, even ferns and grasses (lowest light plants you can get) to grow. The ferns have just rotted away. I am an experienced plant grower and my 45 gallon tall tank has beautiful plants growing in it. I supplement with all the correct fertilizers and know how to care of plants so that is not the problem. Tank has properly cycled as well. I have tried adding plants twice with the same result ~ nothing growing by algae. While this light would be good for someone who does not have live plants in their aquarium, it is not sufficient for someone growing live plants. Unfortunately I spent over $55.00 on the light and the timer...
