Not sure why glue would show up like this unless the glue they used was not even dry.

Minny: After trying so many digital ones that would constantly leak. I have finally stumbled upon this gem and it was amazing! No leaks, battery doesn’t run out quick, turns on right on time. How it works is you need to turn it on at a time you want it to go off the next day or every other day (you choose on the dial) and it will automatically turn on at that same time the next day or when you choose. This doesn’t have an option to turn on more than once a day and I wasn’t looking for that but in case you are just know it’s not with this one. I loved it so much I got my sister one too. We don’t have to worry about watering our lawn, this handles it all for us

Queezman: I chose this model because it looked easy enough to operate, had metal on at least 1 connection (users reported plastic breaking on other models), didn't have a digital display (would use more battery power and would be one more thing to break), and the price was right.
My water connection is in my basement not outside, with the hose running through the bulkhead doors, so the unit is protected from the elements and unauthorized tampering. There are absolutely zero leaks at the connection points and I have not heard my water pipes bang when the unit engages or switches off the water. I also have plenty of water pressure to my lawn sprinkler.
I was afraid the 'every other day' time options would not be sufficient but I started at 5 minutes and am now up to 30 minutes because the 5 and 10 minutes were not adequate. The soil looked wet but when I dug down, the soil below the surface was bone dry.
I wish there was a simple dedicated on/off switch that didn't impact the start time on days when it rains when you don't want the timer to activate.
Also, it's a tad inconvenient that the start time is tied to whenever you insert the batteries. However, I found a clever work...

Ste W: I've been quite happy with with this hose timer for two years now. (I detach and store it indoors for the winter/spring months.) Just a pair of new batteries each season. I've found it great for automatic watering with a drip system for pots and containers, or a hose and sprinkler for the lawn or trees.
Dial is large enough to read from a short distance, unlike so many other analog timers, and doesn't require close-up squinting in low light or shade. It turns easily with easily-discernible clicks/stops at each setting. The *separate* see-through gray plastic cover piece clicks over the dial mechanism like a lid, providing splash protection, but not a seal. (The picture shows the gray piece resting over the female connector, where it would never be. ???) The battery slots are behind the dial, on the backside, also under the gray cover.
Housing and fittings seem sturdy, although I wish the male fitting were also metal instead of plastic threads that can get torn up. Best to avoid disturbing the male fitting once properly connected. Mine is in a partly-shady area, and these plastics are known to degrade and discolor over time in UV (sun) light.
The clock always...

Hyoun Kim: I recently hired a contractor to sod my lawn after I did some major backyard renovation work. Prior to him sodding, I knew I would have to water the sod very frequently. I didn't have a hose timer, so I immediately looked to Amazon (my #1 choice) for hose timers. My only criteria (at the time) was that I wanted it to be under $30 (the closer to $20 the better). At the time of purchase (back in July), Of the top 6 hose timers on Amazon, only 4 of them met my criteria. They are as follows:
Ranked #1 Orbit 91213 One-Dial Garden Hose Digital Water Timer - $29.98
Ranked #2 Orbit Hose Watering Timer 62024 - $20.49 (The One I'm Reviewing)
Ranked #4 Orbit SunMate 62034 Mechanical Watering Timer - $11.17
Ranked #5 Orbit 62061N Single-Dial Water Timer - $24.99
I ended up choosing #2, the one I'm reviewing but really wished I would have chosen #5 (will get to that later). #4 was not an option due to same-day only watering.
Physically, nothing is wrong with my timer. It exactly like I expected it to and has no leaks whatsoever. The gray "cover" you see in the picture actually goes over the timer itself (NOT the hose...
