Update Review March 2021 - 3rd party filters are always a bit hit or miss. I've picked up Aquacrest several times, and while they work well, I have had some filters cease to filter any further water after only 2-3 weeks. I just swapped out one today, that I had only installed 23 days ago.
I do not recall ever having that problem with original PUR filters. Nor has their been any drastic change in my out-of-faucet water quality that I would discern as more likely to clog/use up the filter sooner.
My palette isn't sensitive enough to determine if there's a difference in the water quality taste between PUR filters and 3rd party, so I'm going by cost and performance alone. It's great that 3rd party cost less than OEM, but if you end up throwing one away before the normally expected shelf life, you likely throw away any cost savings.
Personally, I'll stick with OEM PUR from now on.
