D: Works very good as a swamp cooler pump and lasts longer also. You do have to place a weight on top to keep it from tipping over.

shirley lightfoot: Quiet, powerful. Runs my aquaponic system throughly, efficiently, plants and fish both are well. Best to attach a plastic flow value to the outtake hose or your fish will be going for a ride. Would give 5 stars if not for flow control. Also, best to go the the dollar store, buy a sponge cut to fit around the outside of the unit where it can sit in the sponge, this will avoid it from clogging which it eventually will do. You can unscrew the casing to clean it out...to much time. Best take a pot or bucket, fill it half way, take the pump out put it the bucket or pot with clear water and shake hard. THIS THING WILL ALWAYS CLOG WITHOUT SOME KIND OF SPONGE FITTING AROUND IT!!!

The thing that works for me, I pick it up when cleaning the tank, place it in front of my existing powerhead and watch all the dirt flow out the sides. The reason why people will say this is noisy is because the suction cups are not fixed to a clean surface, I did, can hear the pump at all just the heavy crashing water flow is all you hear now that, is loud! Flow regulator takes care of that easily. Good buy.

alexalex: Overall, it is too powerful for my small fish tank - the small fish tank pictures in their photos is misleading. The price is great though, and it would be perfect for a large tank or a small pond. i did not know Amazon supported videos, so i took photos instead. The bucket has a larger (taller) head than my tank (which is indoors), and i took the cautious liberty of testing it out outdoors first.. Had i put in in my tank, it would have spilled indoors.

It would have been nice to have a means to adjust/lower the flow rate, and nice if they had included a 1/4" nozzle. Then this powerful little pump would have been a keeper... Amazon gave me a refund so I do not remove any stars. It's a great little pump, but their descriptions/specifications need to be more precise/detailed and less misleading. I ended up going with the Aqua Dream DB6, which has both...

Pros:
-- Pump is indeed very quiet.
-- Pump is more powerful than stated. At a supposed max head of 5.9 ft, it is much closer to 400 GPH (5.2'?) than it's stated 265 GPH.

Cons:
-- This pump is too powerful for a small/medium fish tank.
-- flow is not adjustable.
-- comes with medium/large nozzle...
